Nice hotel if you want to get away from the busy, crowded Waikiki strip area. Nice friendly staff, private beach, and 3-4 fine restaurants to dine at.

Nice beach and hotel grounds. There are dolphins, stingrays, sea turtles and fish in the pools on the property. Very family friendly.

I died and woke up in heaven!

I am a die-hard, born and bred Jamaican and always felt nowhere could compare. Well, well I was wrong. The Kahala and Hawaii was my most memorable and enjoyable vacation ever! The service was impeccable, food great, staff service unbelievable. Wow! I needed the break and The Kahala surpassed my Expectations.

Old School Luxury

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Pros: Everything.........keep it clean and simple, do not try and make it trendy like other hotels. Keep your culture and character.
Cons: Have a food package available or a lower cost buffet for the kids.
The Kahala is a step back in time where you feel special and welcomed from the moment you arrive. The staff is friendly and polite to all your needs. The rooms were fantastic and spacious to our comfort level. The beach is semi private and no large noisy or crazy beach crowds. Just upscale visitors enjoying paradise. Mahalo

Slice of Paradise!

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Pros: pool, beach, staff, rooms, brunch at Plumeria
Location: Waikiki for shopping, beach, and great restaurants. Ko Olina for beaches, snorkeling. Hanauma Bay for snorkeling.
The Kahala Resort is a wonderful oasis. Close to Waikiki, but far enough away you feel like you're in another part of the island. The resort is beautiful, well appointed, luxurious without being pretentious. The staff was very friendly and there to help with anything we needed. The pool was lovely, but we spent most of our time at the beautiful beach. The brunch at the Plumeria restaurant was to die for!

Away from the "hustle & bustle" of Waikiki Beach!

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: Location, breakfast buffet, private beach, comfortable bed & rooms, great shower, amazing views, and extremely friendly service & staff!
Cons: Touch-up wood work and minor paint chipping in bathroom.
Location: 4 miles east of Waikiki, about 20 minute bus ride to Hanauma Bay. PGA golf course next door, snorkeling, surfing, canoeing tours, etc. close by.
Great alternative to downtown Waikiki where congestion is much like downtown Chicago, Boston, etc. The Kahala is about 4 miles east of the Honolulu/Waikiki metro area and is located by a PGA golf course and upscale residential area. It has its own private beach and the most amazing breakfast buffet ever! The Kahala is what a vacation should be like (to me): Relaxing, life in the "slow-lane," where your pampered and waited on hand & foot! I don't like to be in a rush all the time, fighting for a place in line or waiting just to cross the street! This hotel/resort is definitely suited well for older folks, but we must have seen at least a dozen weddings take place there on our 4 night stay! It's a great place for families with children as well since the "Dolphin Experience" includes 5 amazing dolphins right there on the property. As mentioned above, the breakfast buffet was something the wife and I looked forward to every morning. It included all the fresh fruit you could dream of, crispy bacon, eggs, pancakes, sausage, potatoes, smoked salmon, yogurt, toast, jams, pastries, muffins, oatmeal, and all your usual breakfast choices. Omelette chefs will toss you eggs made-to-order and there is also a Japanese cuisine bar. It is rather expensive if you pay for it after you arrive (around forty dollars person with tax & tip). Be sure to purchase the breakfast package when you book your room & you'll save a bundle (we paid fourteen dollars per person).

Superb hotel on the beach

This was my second stay at this hotel. It is outstanding in every way. All the staff are exceptionally helpful and courteous. The location is magnificent. Of course, it comes with a high price tag but well worth the money.
