If you plan on hanging out in Waikiki or hanging out by the beach, this is not the place to stay in. But if you plan on going to the Ala Moana Mall, then this is conveniently a walking distance hotel. Our room was in front of the 3 elevator doors and it feels like a plane was taking off every minute. Although they close the 2 elevator s at 10 P.M. and opens them again at 6 A.M., it was annoying to hear the sound in our room. Although it has a very excellent staff service but I don’t know why they call it Modern Hotel when nothing is modern in it. Our king bed wasn’t comfy, neither the pull out bed, the pillows were run down. The only thing I liked in this hotel was the strong water pressure from the shower. We spent so much time walking back and forth to Waikiki.

I stayed from 03/27/24 to 04/04/24 and this was my fourth time stayed in last two years. Didn't have much problems before but this time was a nightmare, people smoking weed in the room from next to us day and night therefore my daughter was vomiting and got sick so I went to front deck and complained front desk person acting like a nothing we can do about it. After another complained that night finally they switched my room to different floors but they gave me a cityview room from oceanview

Room was nice and just big enough for my family of 4 (w double beds). Great location in front of marina and short walk to beach. Nice restaurants inside hotel, nice views, clean outside and great views. There are safes inside of the rooms. I highly recommend you use them. My son left his wallet out one day on nightstand during the day and when we returned it was less $200 and missing a Ralph Lauren jacket. (They were nice enough to leave the two $1 bills he had in there). We filed report with security. After that we were a little on edge and asked for no more cleaning services for the remainder of the trip. Apparently this is not uncommon in the hotels in Hawaii. Just be aware of that. I’d stay there again because the location was great, room and facilities were perfect for what we needed. I would only recommend that you clean your own room and request amenities as needed from the front desk and keep that do not disturb sign on your door.

This hotel was beautiful, clean and in a great location. The staff was so nice and helpful ans they have a great text option for any front desk questions. The room was really nice and had a mini fridge, keurig, microwave, blow dryer and functioning A/C. There were 2 pools once for adults only and the family pool with a bar where you can order from the hotel's restaurant. There was also a walkway you can take down to the beach or to the nearby lagoon where you can check out a quick fireworks show every Friday evening. There were plenty of things to do nearby, my husband and I walked around and found great food and stores walking distance. I would definitely book with them again!

All around nice property. Rooms were beautiful and clean and the front desk gave us bottled water everyday. The only thing missing for me would be a jacuzzi by the pools and room service. Would stay here again!

The bellhop did not offer to help with my luggage and I have to carry my luggage up 6 steps. I’m a 73 old lady. The furnitures are low grade. Otherwise, the room is clean and doesn’t smell.

We had a nice view from the balcony and the housekeeper did an amazing job. All of the staff members were very hospitable. The only negatives were the carpet was quite dirty and the pillows were lumpy but the price point was good for the neighborhood.

The room was quite large and had a lanai which we really enjoyed. The gym was amazing with lots of free weights and a few machines. They offered early morning yoga classes. The walk to the beach was via a boardwalk which also lead to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. In room hotel /maid service was outstanding. Very happy with our stay

Great Hotel, enjoyed our stay. Nice pools, friendly staff, close to beach area. Easy to get Uber or walk to various restaurants and attractions. Beds in the rooms a bit firm, glad we had mini fridge, microwave and Keurig for coffee. Would stay again 😊

This hotel was average. The beds were very uncomfortable and low to the ground. The elevators were very loud. The parking garage felt a little unsafe. The resort fee was very high considering this is a normal hotel, not a resort. There was a DJ that played at the pool and it was quite loud, especially since most people were there trying to relax or have conversations. The staff was friendly but not over the top and there were often long lines at reception.

We had an amazing stay with the Modern. Everything from the get go was superb. Hotel’s location is incredible, short walking distance to Honolulu’s hottest spots and super close to the beach. The staff was friendly, especially John! He is the nicest guy ever! Super friendly and helpful :) Overall I really recommend staying at this hotel plus they have good food at the Grove restaurant ;)
