Great location

Posted Jan 22, 2015
The relaxing feeling of sitting in your room balcony and watching the waves cannot be beat, and for that Turtle Bay gets my thumbs up. Nice, clean room with spacious closets and dressing room. The property is vast, with golf courses, stables, etc. There is a resort fee, which includes self parking, wi-fi, one hour complimentary snorkeling etc. Pool area was good. If there was one complaint I had to make, it would be that the shower had only a partial glass door, and the water kept flowing out.

Good looking, expensive hotel

Pros: Location and the rooms
Cons: Food service and prices
The hotel itself, location and facilities are very good. The food service is over priced and not that good. There are lots of extra charges.

Lots to do great beaches

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: Nightly entertainment, kids love the fire dancers.
Cons: More garbage/recycling cans near the beaches found that there wasn't enough. Although part of that is the people if they pack it they should take it.
Location: Go to Haleiwa, And grab some Acai bowls from Haleiwa bowls, coffee from the Coffee Gallery, sushi from Banzia, monster burrito's form Killer Taco's.
We were there for 10 nights and had a partial view room. It was great to go to sleep and wake up to the sound of the crashing waves. It drowned out the sound of the plumbing. The toilet in our room had this tendency to "burp" and you just hoped that you didn't get caught using it at that time. We chose this hotel because of the amenities that it offered, surf school, access to snorkelling, horseback riding. The guys at the surf school are great! We did some paddle boarding with them and rented a few on our own. The one thing that we did find out is that if you follow a vegan diet there really is no options, other then salad or a hummus trio. Although tasty not really enough to sustain you, and food is pricey. So a car is recommended.

Aloha, Thank you for staying with us on the Fabled North Shore. It is nice to know you enjoyed our amenities, especially the Hans Hedemann Surf School on property. Paddle boarding is always great fun. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on how we could improve our menu. Currently every one of our restaurants has at least one vegan item. I hope you tried the taro poke in North Shore Kula Grille or the spicy glazed island tofu in Pa’akai. I will speak with our Executive Chef and keep in mind to boost our Vegan options. We hope to have the honor of making more adventures with you someday. Warmest Aloha, Danna Holck Vice President & General Manager

Superb location, lots of activities

Posted Jan 16, 2015
Pros: Beautiful location and décor, lots of activities. Near the iconic North shore surf locations.
Cons: Please please sort out the parking. Give residents some priority for spaces so they don't have to park so far away from the hotel.
Location: See above. Also nearby is the Banzai Pipeline surf break where you can watch stupendous waves crashing on the shore and the brave people surfing.
I had visited Turtle Bay resort before and had always wanted to return. I was not disappointed. The location is magnificent, poised on a promontory out into the bay, so all rooms (I think) have ocean views. Just don't think tsunami. I love the décor - all aqua and blues to match the scenery. The style is relaxed. There's a lot to do here if you want to be active - golf courses, horse riding, snorkelling, surfing plus the spa. You can also go walking on various trails. Of course it all costs - and for me it's one of those places which is out of reach financially except for special treats.

Beautiful cottage on the ocean

Posted Jan 15, 2015
Pros: Loved everything about this place. The facilities were lovely and grounds beautifully landscaped and maintained. Spa services were excellent.
Cons: Nothing that I can tell.
Location: On the North Shore of Oahu very close to the Pipeline. Watched surfers navigate stunning surf, humpbacks breaching in the distance and green turtles.
Beautiful setting, beautiful cottage on the ocean with stunning views of the bay. Restaurants ( the Grill and Ola's) have terrific food too.

Simply Paradise

Posted Jan 15, 2015
Pros: Location, staff, view, and food!
This is our second time back to Turtle Bay Resort and it just keeps getting better. The property is absolutely beautiful and covers a vast area. There are a number of things to do....horse back riding, surf lessons, yoga, stand up paddle, stand up paddle yoga...and of course...golf. The Arnold Palmer course is a golfers dream. The restaurants are pricey; but this isn't a discount hotel. We had our anniversary dinner at the Kula Grille and it was worth every penny. The steak was as tender as butter. Chef Eugene did an amazing job. We sat out on the patio and watched the sunset while we ate. Nothing can beat the views. The hotel is practically surrounded by ocean and it is lovely to fall asleep listening to the waves. The staff were so warm and friendly. I had a few exceptional service encounters with the reception, the pool staff and a great waitress in the surfer bar. We have travelled around the world and I think Turtle Bay is up there with the best. We plan to go back for every anniversary.

Spectacular scenery and great pillows!

Posted Jan 14, 2015
Pros: Room, location, scenery, pool, layout, staff/employees, and price.
Location: Haleiwa, Kahuku, great surf spots like Sunset Beach, Pipeline, and Waimea Bay. Plenty to do.
We were so impressed with everything about Turtle Bay Resort. From the check-in to the check-out, everyone was pleasant and obviously there to serve us. The resort itself is beautiful, and the room was excellent. We had a "partial ocean view", but to us, it looked like a full ocean view! The sound of the waves at night was wonderful and we slept with the door open. The pool was great, and I got to go surfing which was so much fun. The menu at Kula Grille was impressive in its use of local food, with plenty of vegetarian options. Dinner service, however, was very, very slow - nearly two and a half hours with the restaurant half full, and only four of us dining. The food was great, but not remarkably outstanding. Breakfast service there was much better, and the food was excellent. The folks at the surf school were especially helpful, as were the valet guys and the bell men. I can't say enough about the room, though. The bed was so comfortable, and the pillows were amazing. The bathroom was beautiful, and the shower was fantastic. Great experience!!

The best!

Posted Jan 14, 2015
Pros: The hospitality and the overall comfort. Excellent rooms and super quiet. Staff are wonderful--we had the best experience and felt right at home.
Cons: While the rooms are beautiful, there were some glaring stains on some of the furniture, as well as some greater wear and tear.
Location: North Shore is worth it. Turtle Bay is worth it. The location is amazing--there isn't a better property on that entire side of the island.
So glad we picked this hotel to stay at for the entirety of our North Shore vacation. Great property, ocean views from every room, great pools, great beaches, and wonderful staff. They accommodated us in every which way, which is often hard to come by with many hotels. Everyone was so friendly, and there was no lack of amenities and activities! You can "borrow" snorkeling equipment, GoPros, and Beats speakers for no charge, and the property is situated between two beaches (one great for swimming/snorkeling, the other for surfing). Five restaurants to pick from, a really nice, fully equipped gym, a beautiful spa (with great treatments!), golfing, horseback riding, and even their own helicopter tour service on site. We upgraded to a sixth floor premium room, and got the absolute best view for evening sunsets, evening entertainment, and lots of people-watching (we were on the South wing). We also spent time walking down the hiking trails to other lesser busy beaches near the property, which was totally worth it. Know you're going to spend lots of money at this place--if not for your room, on food, drinks, activities, and other adventures. Regardless, if you're okay with that and are really into making it a legit vacation, it's worth every penny. I'd suggest renting a car so you have access to the awesome little towns on the North Shore--Hale'iwa has amazing food and great people, and driving around the southeast part of the island is worth the car alone!
