So close to that warm water

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: It was close to the beach. About 25 meters. SUPERB weight room.
Cons: We were both disappointed with the pools. Both were unheated and small. Only one of these issues is improvable.......
Location: Almost endless. Great strolls along the main street. Access to tours, buses, taxis, clubs, eateries.
Very nicely done overall. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The concierge staff went out of their way to assist us with activities and made great suggestions! The little fridge in the room was great as eating three meals a day on the strip was expensive and FATTENING. In the common area of the hotel was an outfit called "ABC Stores", (All Blocks Covered - very clever name) that carried the basics at a convenience store price level. A few blocks away is the Food Pantry which is similar to a small Sobey's. Well stocked! The resort fee per day ($30) seemed steep at first, but when you read the list of things covered, it became quite reasonable. Internet, local and long distance calls, a free 4x6 professional photo with a slight expectation that you will buy a package as the session takes an HOUR with PRO's who are very pleasant and need to make a living to support themselves in paradise....... The one thing that we found astounding was the daily charge for a pool side cabana. $50 USD. All that included was a tent like structure open on all four sides with a couple of comfy pool side loungers. The whole time we were there we didn't see one person using one. Not a soul. Go figure?

I would not recommend this hotel

Posted Apr 6, 2014
We have stayed in other hotels in Waikiki so we have some good points of comparison. This hotel seems to be short staffed at their front desk. It took 30 minutes to speak with someone that was with only 2 or 3 people in line. People were even leaving the line up swearing they were so mad. This happened on check in and check out When they finally gave us our room keys we went up to our room and found that it was major mould smell. Apparently the small refrigerator had bee leaking overnight before we checked in and nobody noticed. The new room was a downgrade, which was even worse, but we were so tired from traveling we were just happy to be done with the whole check in experience (overall 2hr experience). This hotel is very pricey, but not worth the price. if you are a family wanting to save money, I would go with the Aston which is right beside this hotel and you would get more for your money. If you like luxury go with the Sheraton or Hawaiian Hilton (which are right on the beach). We have stayed at all these hotels and they are better.

Well located and very comfortable hotel

Pros: Service and overall location of hotel.
Cons: Better dining rooms.
Location: Across the street from Waikiki beach and close to good shopping. Please Honolulu, do something about all the homeless residing on your streets!
Enjoyed a 3 day stopover in Honolulu on my way home to Canada from New Zealand at the Marriott Waikiki Beach Resort. It's a comfortable hotel in all respects. My room had a good view of Diamond Head and the ocean (27th floor), a big comfortable bed and plenty of room. All staff were very upbeat and helpful. The only improvement I suggest is to add some better dining facilities....thought the main floor Grill offering the buffet was very lacking in quality food and atmosphere...random people wandering in off the street to check out what's on the buffet and then wandering out again....kinda creepy to see this!

Bit of a let-down.

Pros: Location was good right on the strip.
Cons: They need an update to the amenities in the room.
Location: Great location right on the main strip of Waikiki. Close to the zoo. Really good sushi restaurant!
30 min. line for check-in. tub not totally clean. Wobbly cheap suitcase stand. On the good side the beds were good with soft mattress pad, and a good sized room. Previously stayed at Sheraton Waikiki - will go back there next time.

Hotel is close to beach and shopping

Posted Mar 16, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Treating Marriott members with more courtesy, especially when they've pre-paid for 6 nights. "Come on-you've got our money, so just be kind to us!"
Location: The beach is just across the street, and high end shopping (Tods, Chanel, Macy, Neiman's Marcus, and others) is within walking distance.
This is a nice hotel, even though it seemed older and a bit dated. The staff were very friendly, and helpful, but because we had to get off of our cruise ship so early, it would have been nice to have been able to check in early. (Especially since we had spent two nights (and 2 rooms) there before we got on the cruise ship). We overheard someone mention a hospitality room, where we could wait, and so we asked about it, because they sure didn't offer this info! We had our 80 yr old parents with us, and it shoulda been obvious that they didn't want to wait in lobby for 6 hours! Overall, a nice hotel, but could use a boost in their customer service. The rooms are somewhat pricey for what you get.

Beautiful hotel-close to beach. Friendly staff!

Posted Mar 15, 2014
Pros: Clean-Friendly-close to beach
Cons: Food at the outdoor 3rd floor bar. Hamburger was just ok. Drinks good. Staff friendly. Overlooks beach.
Location: Beach across the street. Sunsets beautiful. Shopping inside hotel and nearby as well as restaruants
Easy access to-from beach! Clean-friendly staff-easy check in & out. Two pools and nice workout room. Would highly recommend and WE will be back.
