Modest optionPosted Jul 19, 2015
Pros: Homey, unpretentious air, not too slick.
Cons: Wifi doesn't really reach much beyond the lobby and pool area, so in-room connectivity was spotty at best. Could use a lick of paint here and there.
Spent three nights at the White Sands and found staff cheerful and helpful. Room was clean and tidy. Location was very handy. Could walk everywhere (beach about 10 mins away at a saunter). I happen to like homey, slightly worn around the edges but clean places like this, but I daresay others may have a lower tolerance for the place's old school feel.

The hotel is a bit old, but the staff is terrific--friendly, very helpful with advice about restaurants, trips, driving directions, etc. Despite the hotel's age, the basic amenities and comforts are there. The location is convenient--very close to the center of Waikiki.

Really nice hotel near to everythingPosted Jul 10, 2015
Pros: Everything, location, staff and the cleanness of the room and surroundings.
Cons: The Air-condition was a little loud if I have to say anything negative.
Location: Location was perfect, near to shopping, beach and restaurants. Transportation and car rental just minutes away.
We was welcomed in a very nice way and treated so good the hole staying ( 1 week). If there was anything we needed help with, you named it, they fixed it. The ladies at the desk met us with a big Aloha everyday, that alone was nice. I will for sure come back to this hotel when I come back to Oahu

The location of White Sands and the room condition and more important than all that is the awesome staff. A quaint 3 story walk up with a nice clean pool and a great tropical courtyard.

the room needed the carpet replaced but was otherwise good. Very pleased with the staff. They were always very pleasant and helpful.

It was a place to lay our head. Very small, no elevator (carry luggage 3 flights). Not even an alarm clock. It is very dated. Bug/ant type things in the room and bathroom.

Great valuePosted Jul 5, 2015
Pros: The staff was great, I really liked how they have a locked room to store bags after checkout.
Cons: A couple times the cleaning staff did not replace the coffee and I had to go downstairs to get it.
Location: It's in the middle of Waikiki, a 5 minute walk from the beach and no more than 20 minutes from either end of Waikiki so you can skip the rental car.
It's great for a longer or budget/large group trip - they have a reasonably priced laundry room, the front desk will give you change, there is a kitchenette in the room and it's stocked with cookware and dishes. The A/C worked great. If you are looking for a luxury hotel you will be disappointed, but if you just want somewhere comfortable and close to everything then white sands is great! I would stay there again.

Ok for the money. Swimming poolPosted Jul 4, 2015
Pros: The beds and pool.
Cons: Continental breakfast or side bar by the pool. More informative saff. More diversity among quests
Location: Car rental across street, farmers market down road 5 min. I hop for breakfast not too far. Many shops and within walking distance to beach/zoo.
Came in late. Went for daughters graduation. Yes there is a front desk, ring the bell. Was not impressed at first, Strip joint around the corner. In morning had a better perspective. Right across from a car rental, farmers market, and only a short walk to beach. Swimming pool was nice and beds confortable. Not much diversity as far as guests, all seemed to be Chinese or Japanese. Make sure your room is facing the pool. Good for the money, but I would spend a little more to get a hotel closer to beach and one with a continental breakfast or a lounge in the hotel for convenience. Would have preferred a better view the feel of "Hawaii" was just not there. My daughters first experience was not of excitement and awe, think a better hotel and location would have helped.
