Small friendly Hotel. Central Location.Posted Mar 30, 2014
Pros: Very pleasant and welcoming Central location Kitchenette well stocked
Cons: Air conditioning could be a little quieter
Location: Two blocks from the Beach. Plenty of Shops and Restaurants Local Bus only $2.50 to go anywhere on the Island. Bishop Museum, Museum of Art, Palaces
We had a pool view room with kitchenette. The pool area is very secluded with plenty of loungers round the pool. The garden area has a nice waterfall and Koa carp pond with seating, plus barbeque area with tables and chairs. Towels for pool area available at reception. The Reception is open plan with a small seating area with an iced water dispenser. Local papers available daily from the desk. Laundry facilities are available All staff members are very polite and go out of their way to be helpful.

Great price for a good hotel with a great locationPosted Mar 27, 2014
I chose this hotel mostly based on the price and once we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. The room was much larger than I thought and had a little kitchenette with dishes, silverware, and cooking utensils. The upper 2 floors have a balcony attached. The only downfall was they did not have an elevator but by the end of the week we were used to doing the 3 flights of stairs. Each member of staff we encountered was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance to a mini flea market (a block away), the zoo (approx 6-7 blocks) and Waikiki beach (4 blocks). There is also many restaurants nearby as well. I will definitely be staying here again next time I visit Hawaii.
QuaintPosted Mar 21, 2014
This hotel must have been one of the firsts in the Waikiki Beach Area. It is quaint and needs updating. However it is only 2 blocks from the beach. Although stuffy when we arrived the trade winds and large sliding doors allowed fresh air in as well as the surf when the street traffic finally died down. Good for one night, but I would not do an extended stay.

Nice hotel however the staff is disorganizedPosted Mar 13, 2014
Cons: I would say more professional and friendly staff
I had a great time with my family on this vacation, however the hotel I stayed at was just a room. Because of the lack of service and friendliness I was glad to check out at the end. Hotel itself is clean and nice and is worth the price I paid.

Walking distance to everything with a kitchenettePosted Feb 19, 2014
The hotel is off the main strip but still accessible to everything. While an ocean view would have been nice it was still great to have a balcony. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It was nice having the mini fridge and kitchen sink in the room. Saved us on eating out every meal.

Great Value. Great Staff. Great Location.Posted Feb 12, 2014
Pros: Value. Location. Staff.
Cons: Elevator. Hot tub replaced.
Location: Beach about four streets over. Shopping two blocks away. Starbucks on the corner. Grocery store two blocks away.
Greeted by friendly staff. Very helpful. Located just off the busy Waikiki downtown area and not far from the beach. Close to the action.

Don't stay herePosted Feb 12, 2014
Stained carpets, cracked shower floors and a mattress made of cardboard. Need I say more? This is not a hotel, but a motel and a cheap one at that. Take the time to shop around and save your money for an actual hotel stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the White SandsPosted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: The location, the staff, the size of the room.
Cons: The rooms could be a bit cleaner (accumulated dust behind bed headboards for example). It wasn't dirty, it just wasn't spotless.
Location: Waikiki is great, very close to the the beach, Waikiki can be enjoyed by day and by night. It's a tourist town perfect to shop and eat and relax.
The White Sands is in an excellent location, close to everything we wanted to see in Waikiki. The staff is friendly and excellent, and helped us arrange a shuttle ride back to the airport (ask the day before and you should be fine). The hotel itself is a little old, the beds are comfortable enough.
