Disgusting, I'm surprised Expedia even has it on their website. Expedia's a trusted website for many and this hotel should not be on there.

Great value. I would stay here again.

Pros: Location and price. Kitchenette.
Cons: The rooms are a little outdated but everything worked. The carpet could use a good steam clean and the walls needed some patching and paint.
Location: Excellent location! Walking distance to practically everything in Waikiki.
We were very pleased with this hotel and staff. We chose this hotel because we wanted to save some money on breakfast. There is an electric range, microwave and small refrigerator. We cooked nearly every morning during our one-week stay. And this hotel is walking distance to a grocery store and only a couple blocks from Waikiki beach.

The room was clean and very nice- it had a flat tv and also a ps3. Inside a room there was a little kitchenette, so you can cook by yourself. The staff was very helpful and kind :)

You get what you pay for.

Pros: The room was spacious and the pool area looked nice.
Cons: Everything. It needs a complete remodel.
Location: It is right downtown Waikiki.Plenty of shopping and food a short walk away.
We had to get a room last minute and the price and location were just what we needed. That's as far as the good comments go. The hotel is a very small place, that time forgot, stuck in between newer, bigger hotels. There are about 10 parking spaces available. Once she sells them out, you have to park some distance away at a parking garage. The walk wasn't too bad however, we didnt feel safe at night. The room had a kitchenette, equipped with dishes. I wouldn't dare look too close at the cleanliness, because i had to stay there. The bathroom was the worst part. It was mildewed and smelly. The best part of the hotel was the outdoor space. The lobby is open-air, that opens to the pool area.

Nice pool, close to beach. Slightly expensive.

Memories; I worked here as a desk clerk 50 yrs ago

Posted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: This was like a refreshing little oasis in the middle of a concrete desert. Totally relaxing yet only one block away from everything
Cons: WiFi
Location: I don't have time to write a book
This was my first stay at this hotel since leaving the islands 50 years ago. I worked my way through college as the graveyard desk clerk. Obviously 50 years can take a toll on any property, however, every thing was fine. My wife even commented that next time we should stay a few days. Two problems; WiFi didn't work unless you were very close to the lobby. Second; the price for the room was pre paid through Expedia $91.93 room charge and $12.84 taxes & fees, for a total $104.77 charged to my Visa Card. I informed the desk clerk upon checking in that everything was pre paid and she confirmed this. Imagine my surprise when we checked out the next morning and I was informed that there was an out standing "HOTEL FEE" of $10.47. What is a hotel fee? Why wasn't it included in the original billing? Yes we will go back again. But, I don't appreciate any hidden or undisclosed fees.

This is an Economy Hotel - not a luxury suite!

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: The swimming pool is inviting.
Cons: The building could be torn down and replaced with a new facility - it could be the first Super 8 in Waikiki!
Location: Food, sport bar and beach are all walking distance.
The White Sands is fine for the money and especially fine if you consider the location close to everything in Waikiki. Do not stay here for a special occasion, but if you are only looking for a bed and shower - you will be fine.

This is an older hotel. They were beginning to install some room improvements. It was ok but just needs a little work

Disappointing

Pros: great location , and quiet
Cons: All of the above
Location: Everything is close very central and close to traffic
Run down hotel in great location. Some staff were friendly. The bedlinen was clean but the bathroom was mouldy, and smelly. The tap was broken and leaking. It has been replaced, but it was still leaking. The carpet needs cleaning. When we changed room, we could check in again only after 3 pm, although there were vacancies. There is no lift, but 3 levels. We stayed only, because there was no promise of refund.
