Nice hotel however the staff is disorganizedPosted Mar 13, 2014
Cons: I would say more professional and friendly staff
I had a great time with my family on this vacation, however the hotel I stayed at was just a room. Because of the lack of service and friendliness I was glad to check out at the end. Hotel itself is clean and nice and is worth the price I paid.

Walking distance to everything with a kitchenettePosted Feb 19, 2014
The hotel is off the main strip but still accessible to everything. While an ocean view would have been nice it was still great to have a balcony. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It was nice having the mini fridge and kitchen sink in the room. Saved us on eating out every meal.

Great Value. Great Staff. Great Location.Posted Feb 12, 2014
Pros: Value. Location. Staff.
Cons: Elevator. Hot tub replaced.
Location: Beach about four streets over. Shopping two blocks away. Starbucks on the corner. Grocery store two blocks away.
Greeted by friendly staff. Very helpful. Located just off the busy Waikiki downtown area and not far from the beach. Close to the action.

Don't stay herePosted Feb 12, 2014
Stained carpets, cracked shower floors and a mattress made of cardboard. Need I say more? This is not a hotel, but a motel and a cheap one at that. Take the time to shop around and save your money for an actual hotel stay.

Very impressed with this hotel, cheap with everything u need and even a little kitchenette! No restaurant or bar but so much near by u don't need it. Staff are always friendly and accommodating! I will stay there again for sure!

We enjoyed our stay at the White SandsPosted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: The location, the staff, the size of the room.
Cons: The rooms could be a bit cleaner (accumulated dust behind bed headboards for example). It wasn't dirty, it just wasn't spotless.
Location: Waikiki is great, very close to the the beach, Waikiki can be enjoyed by day and by night. It's a tourist town perfect to shop and eat and relax.
The White Sands is in an excellent location, close to everything we wanted to see in Waikiki. The staff is friendly and excellent, and helped us arrange a shuttle ride back to the airport (ask the day before and you should be fine). The hotel itself is a little old, the beds are comfortable enough.

Decent hotel. Needs renovations and sprucing up.Posted Feb 4, 2014
First time in Waikiki and got this hotel through expedia. Place is pretty run down and could use new beds. I saw hotel grounds keeper toss garbage over fence to neighboring hotel. Close to beach, though.

Older hotel in need of major rehab.Posted Jan 27, 2014
Pros: The Staff was excellent
Cons: Major rehab and updating of the rooms.
Location: Only a few blocks from the beach and major shopping and entertainment.
Don't believe all of the reiviews. We would never return to this hotel. The staff was very nice, but the condition of the hotel left a lot to be desired.

Worthwhile upgradePosted Jan 26, 2014
Our first room was in a corner overlooking a garbage area, very depressing. Upon discussion with front staff, we were upgraded to a poolview, comfy room with kitchenette. Though we are in Hawaii and room time is limited, this place was worth the upgrade. Spent some time at the pool, where there were always free chairs. No bar on site, so it's quiet. Close to whatever services or amenities you want...groceries, restaurants, coffee shops, the beach and shopping. Buses are clse but really not necessary. We had a pleasant stay. Only drawback was the daily garbage pickups all over Waikiki...happens EARLY every morning! Wifi was sketchy.

The pictures are super misleading.Posted Jan 24, 2014
Pros: One of the only positive things (in my opinion) was that it was far enough away from the super busy streets that it was kinda quiet.
Cons: Just about everything.
Location: The location, as I mentioned was farther away from the beach, but that was all right for us.
I can forgive them the fact that they didn't notify us of the construction in the front lobby. It wasn't that inconvenient. But the hallway smelled way better than our room. We ended up having to buy an air freshener to spray all over the room. It was funky, the carpet felt tacky. Among other things, we couldn't figure out how to get the air conditioner to turn off, so it was blowing, loudly, all night. The mattress was worse than one would find at a summer camp. We also bought some benadryl to keep us knocked out long enough to get some rest. It was, overall, a fairly terrible experience. We were on the island for a memorial service, so emotions were already running a little high, but when we saw our room, it was so disappointing that I shed a few extra tears.
