The motel was close to the ferry, and beach.

Posted Oct 16, 2014
Pros: The staff, location, cleanliness. Our room felt like we were in someone's house.
Cons: having Gluten Free bagels/other items on the weekends. Having the bagels be extended into the week.
Location: there is a lot to do: Walking to Ocean Park, walking to Circuit Ave and Kennebec aves to eat, people watch, listen to music at night.
I loved being a 5 minute walk to the Motel from the Ferry. We were close to main streets: Kennebec and Circuit. I also loved being close to the ocean. Walking to the East Chop Light House was fun--about 3-4 miles from Circuit ave. Motel staff were kind, informative, accommodating. OIak Bluffs is a walkable town, clean. It has fun shops. We loved the "Back Door Donuts" Apple fritter is decadent and yummy!

A Plain But Excellently Located Motel

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: The location and prices are the MV Surfside's biggest assets.
Cons: The building is unattractive. You enter through a passage way on the street. The rooms are not beautiful, but they are clean and comfortable.
Location: The location was excellent--just a short walk from the harbor, ferry, bus stop, and a lot of restaurants.
The MV Surfside is a good, comfortable place to stay. It is a little disappointing at first glimpse (the entrance is a passageway from the street, the rooms are very plain, and mine had no view), but the location more than makes up for those shortcomings. It is next door to Martha's Vineyard Chowder Company, my favorite restaurant on the island. The beach is in walking distance, but the Oak Bluffs beach really isn't that good. There was a nice garden for sitting and reading on the premises. The staff was helpful and obliging. They have a very strict no smoking policy which I like, but the staff smokes outside the office in the passageway so you walk through a cloud of smoke to your room. I opened and closed the door quickly so I wouldn't be fined for their smoke.

Wonderful location and staff!

Pros: The staff and it's location.
First time visit to Martha's Vineyard and found the motel to be close to the dock at Oak Bluff. The staff was friendly, reception area with water, tea and coffee, and a lovely courtyard!! We asked for a restaurant recommendation and they were spot on with what we wanted. We had a second floor room with a view of the ocean and chairs outside our door to sit and watch the happenings in the courtyard. Great location to walk to the Gingerbread cottages, the Flying Horses, and Tabernacle. Shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Great staff, great location, the room wreaked of bleached. It was slightly uncomfortable even after airing the room out all day. I should have asked for a new room. The staff was very nice and the location is perfect.

Great Location - Decent accomodations

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: Location was prime
Cons: The bed was not very comfortable. I would switch the day bed in the living room to a sleeper couch or just a sofa. It's not comfortable to sit on
Location: Mocha Motts great for coffee/bagel - anderson bike rental - nancy's restaurant - sit on the deck - back door donuts, OB ferry, OB campground,
You are paying for the location. 100 yards from Ferry, 100 yards from the beach, Bus stop is 50 yards away -Easy to take the #13 to edgartown, walk outside the hotel and all the restaurants and shops are right there. Average accommodations. We stayed in the 3rd floor suite. It was nice to have the separate living room for "happy hour" while we went from beach attire to night attire. The cleaning crew would be smoking outsider our room on the porch chairs during their break in the am. Personally I think they should have their smoke break in the courtyard area not directly outside people's rooms. They ruined a shirt by spraying bleach accidentally on it, but the owner replaced it by shipping a new one to my home from the same store. A nice customer service touch.

Close to the Ferry

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Location was great.
Cons: Needs a make over.
Location: You have everything close by.
Great location in Oak Bluffs. Walk to the ferry and the resturants. Short walk to the beach. Room was small and needed updating.

Excellent location--very close to everything!

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: The location, the staff, and the total atmosphere.
Cons: Hairdryers and more hooks in the bathroom. A hand held shower sprayer would be nice.
Location: Very convenient if you are taking the ferry and have no car. Bikes and scooters close by and tours galore, also island buses around the corner.
We had such a wonderful surprise when we saw how convenient this motel was to the ferry, the beaches, the shops, the tours, buses, and wonderful restaurants. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was always friendly and helpful. There are no hair dryers in the bathrooms, but if you ask at the office they will provide one for you at no charge. The rooms were very fresh and clean, and the views and gardens on the property were amazing. We will go there again!!!

Nice hotel

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: reasonably price for mid season
Cons: the free coffee was nice but it would be nice to offer a free breakfast weekdays as well as on weekends.
Location: Ferries are close as well as all the main dinning and food.
Just left the Surfside yesterday after a 3 night stay. The room was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful room on the 3rd floor that overlook the water as well as being able to see town. I was so busy trying to take in all the island in such a few day that I never did sit in the lovely courtyard with many flowers and water fountain. Overall my experience at the surfside was pleasant.
