“Close to San Fransisco, affordable hotel, not so clean, staff extremely nice”

Hotel chosed due to close to San Fransisco at affordable price. Room was for longer stays and also felæt that way. It was clean and tidy, but refigerator (in 2 of 3 rooms) was extremely noise/ partly broken. Our room smelled extensively of curry. Staff was extremely friendly and helpfull- and was used to a very mixed crowd. But again, for the price and location, it was quite alright. 2 blocks down was the hotel reckomended diner- the dinner was excellent and very local. I would come back to the hotel again just to go to the dinner. We left for the Raiders game and left the lugage behind in the kitchen/ technical room. 3 of 4 bags suitcases had pockets opened, that was for sure not opened when handing in lugage. But nothing was missing. Which ended the stay less nice than it could have been

“Cheaper than most so you get what you pay for”

Before booking, I'd read other reviews claiming the Extended Stay in Emeryville was mediocre at best. My expectations therefore weren't very high and sadly my experience was more of the same. Room was pretty good but there were no extra pillows available and the receptionist NEVER got back to me on something that required 'research'. The local area isn't the best but I was still surprised at the stench of marijuana near the lobby entrance. Medicinal users perhaps? Only upside is the rates there are much lower than other close options. Clear case of getting what you pay for.

“Not even a 2 star hotel - Never ever will I return”

BEWARE! The only positive thing I can say about this hotel was that the bedsheets and bathroom were clean. There is no hallway ventilation and from the "regulars" that seem to frequent this establishment on Friday and Saturday nights, the halls smell like marijuana and chinese food. Yuck! Then there were blood droplets in the main entrance lobby that were not cleaned up (partial) until two days after! Be aware that there are NO amenities here. If you want maid service, then that is an extra service you pay extra for. If you want towels, toilet paper, shampoo, etc, you have to get that yourself at the front desk. There are only 5 blow dryers that you have to check-out at the front desk if you want one (if any are left)! I have stayed at 2 star hotels in Italy that are no nearly as run down as this place. Emeryville is a great location and there are 2 newer hotels just up the street that I would recommend before this place.

“Comfortable hotel and convenient location for the Amtrak”

The Extended stay is a chain of hotels geared towards longer stays (by providing more amenities like kitchens and reducing the usually fairly intrusive daily cleaning service). We stayed at the Emeryville one for 4 nights and it was quite comfortable. First impression was not good: Our room hadn't been cleaned for arrival and we had to wait about 45 minutes for them to make it ready and finish cleaning it for us. But otherwise the hotel was fine. Adequate parking and quite helpful reception staff/concierge. Location was convenient for us as we were scheduled to take the Amtrak California Zephyr and it's only a 5 minute taxi ride from the ESA. The hotel was easy to get to by car but the nearby interchange is a bit wierd and it took us a little while to find the onramp which isn't very near the ESA. Location was less good for other public transport once we'd handed back our rental as it was quite far from the nearest BART (MacArthur) and the local busses aren't too great.

Loved the area, & will be staying there again in the future. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel is clean and roomy. Well maintain. I would recommend to family and friends.
