Good customer servicePosted Oct 27, 2013
Pros: The hotel is clean & comfortable.
Location: This hotel is located at Union Landing where there is an assortment of restaurant from which to chose, & a large theater complex.
Upon my arrival at Extended Stay America I discovered that they had not received my reservation from a third party reservation service. It was 11 pm. The woman at their front desk resolved the issue with the third party reservation service in a timely & professional manner.

The staff was always very helpful! Rooms kept the noise out excellently. Location was excellent, restaurants, stores and movies all within walking distance.

Worst Hotel Experience ImaginablePosted Aug 27, 2013
Pros: Nothing at all. Absolutely nothing was positive about the entire experience.
Cons: New employees shouldn't be working alone. Hotel rooms shouldn't be GIVEN AWAY TO OTHER GUESTS. Non-smoking rooms should smell better. Everything. UGH.
Location: It's just in a shopping center. The nearest business was a TJ Friday's which had loud music and people partying in the parking lot until 3AM.
We arrived at midnight with an Expedia reservation for one room, in the area to move into UC Berkeley in the morning. After waiting almost half hour to receive a key from a new employee who was untrained and working alone, we arrived at the room to find that other guests were already sleeping inside. We then had to wait another half hour for the employee to frantically call his manager's cell phone and wake her up to find us a room, since apparently the whole hotel was booked. Meanwhile, another guest and the employee were literally yelling at each other in the lobby regarding a seemingly similar issue. We called other hotels in the area but none had rooms available. After about an hour in the lobby, the manager on the phone offered us a room that was closed due to maintenance issues. It hadn't been cleaned and neither she nor the desk guy would specify what the maintenance issue was. We took the room. First we waited another 20 minutes for the desk guy to clean the room himself, which he clearly didn't know how to do. Then he ran up the stairs to the room without telling us its number and we had to wander around looking for him. It smelled worse than any hotel room I've ever been in - all 4 of us literally gagged when we walked in - but the employee defensively told us it was a non-smoking room and it smelled fine. Nobody could sleep that night due to the smell, a loudly dripping faucet, uncomfortable bed, inadequate curtains, and overall stress. It was really awful.

Pleasant StayPosted Aug 19, 2013
Pros: Nice & Clean Close to the location we worked at.
Cons: Security Patrolling more often.
Location: Great location, great places to dine & shop after work.
As two young ladies working as Brand Ambassadors we found the establishment very nice neat and clean, everything about our short stay was awesome. Just maybe a security can patrol around the area more often. My sister and I got a little scared to see a homeless man sitting down across from our room window, when we checked a second time he was gone.

Mhar - The staff and I read your review, and would like to thank you for writing such nice things about our hotel and rooms. I truly appreciate your comments regarding your satisfaction with our rooms. I do apologize that you were startled by the person that you could see through your window. Please know, we take guest safety very seriously, so we will make sure to walk the area more often moving forward. Thank you again for your kind words. The staff and I would love to provide you with another comfortable stay in the future.
