Ideal Central Point for East Bay

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Cons: Elevators and noise in the lobby.
Location: There is always the wonderful 4th offerings across the freeway.
The hotel was situated in an ideal central location for going to the Berkeley or Oakland or hopping into San Francisco. I have lived in the east bay a decade ago and was back for only a few days and the hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff friendly and obliging with service and information. The rooms were quiet but alas we didn't get one with a view and there was no convenient way to see if there were rooms with a view on the website or from the reception people. The lobby was very noisy though and the elevators really slow. Only these two items keeps this place from getting top scores.

Great Value!

I would highly recommend this hotel! Staff were courteous and are willing to go out of their way to make sure your stay is as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Room was clean and had a nice view of the Bay Bridge. The hotel was conveniently located to shopping and restaurants in the area. If you're looking for a hotel in the area, stop looking and just go ahead and reserve.

It is a good Hilton type hotel with easy access to the bay bridge and Oakland. THERE IS A $15 A DAY CHARGE FOR PARKING.

Soso stay. Had to wait 45 minutes for check in because the room was not ready, and it was after 3 pm already. They gave us a free breakfast voucher though, which is nice. I would recommend this hotel only if you have a car. Otherwise it is quite a pain to get to the BART and back to the hotel, especially in the evenings. It was quite loud, too. There is construction work going on in front of the hotel, they are building a gas station. The overall location is not pleasing at all. The staff was friendly.

Excellent place to stay. Beautiful bay view. Loved the large bathroom and keurig coffee maker in room. Only negative is daily parking fee added on to expenses.

Great hotel close to Oakland, Berkeley and SF

Got there late so I cannot comment on the fully stocked bar and restaurant, but the front desk greeted us with a smile. Wasn't too happy to pay $15 for parking. I know a lot in Berkeley that charges $10 a weekend! But the room was clean and offered great view. Bed was comfortable

Pros: The lobby. The running path.
Cons: There is not enough space here to begin to address the problems I encountered.
Location: By the Bay bridge, Berkely. I've stayed at many Hilton Garden Inn's and all have been ok, but this location cannot be recommended.
The lobby looks nice, but that's the highlight from inside. Runners and walkers would like the shore path by the bay for running and walking. However a nice lobby is not worth the horrendous condition of the rooms, the dirty carpets and paper-thin walls that let you hear _everything_ that goes on in the room next-door. I noticed that hotel staff placed ear-plugs on the nightstand when I arrived and wondered why; it didn't take long. A fussy baby next door made it almost impossible to be in the room at all without the ear plugs in. Even the couple's conversation next door was as if they were in my room. The carpets, sheets and the bathroom looked to be still dirty from the previous occupants. Stained carpet and frayed linens made me keep my shoes and clothes on until it was time to sleep. At 8pm a maid knocked on my door saying she was supposed to clean my room, which apparently meant it hadn't been cleaned before my arrival? I hadn't eaten so tried to call room service 5 separate times but there was no answer. Finally I reached the front desk and they took my order. The food (half chicken/rice)came 45min later, was cold, bone dry and inedible. The salad I had ordered was swimming in oil dressing. The service person who delivered the food said he was the ONLY one taking and delivering orders, which explains the cold food and failure to answer the phone. If there is another hotel option in this area, I would avoid this hotel.
