“Great hotel in downtown Berkeley”
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Durant. Room was small but cozy. Easy walking distance to restaurants.
“Perfect when visiting your student at Cal.”
Very nice rooms. Bathrooms are extremely small, although nicely redone. Hotel was built in 1928, so not surprising.
“great location, good older hotel”
Great location for UC Berkeley, great staff, comfortable room. Squeaky old floor and clanky radiator the only complaints I can think of.
“Nice place”
I stayed at the Hotel Durant with a colleague. We met there with another member of our team for management meetings. We had the board room for a day and it was quiet and comfortable. Good internet and Henry's restaurant had a great breakfast (we ate there pretty much every morning) and was also a great place for a nightcap. Overall, The staff was helpful and courteous, the rooms were comfortable and the entire hotel is well maintained. I was very impressed and it will definitely be my choice the next time I'm in Berkeley.
“disappointed”
Very small room, reminiscent of a 1970s college dorm room. The closet was actually larger than the bathroom. I liked the deep bathtub but the sink was very small and too shallow to fill a water bottle. The mattress was uncomfortable and the bed was very low. Although the outside noise was dampened, it was quite noticeable above us. We were able to find free parking relatively close on the street .
“Very kind and helpful staff”
Great location, very close to the UC Berkeley campus and many shops and restaurants. Very warm welcome, clean room, very pleasant room temperature. Free WiFi in the entire hotel and rooms. Free computer with Internet and printer in the hotel lobby. The hotel has its own restaurant, though I did not eat there. Price was a little too high for the services provided.
“Nice hotel, but internet too slow”
Lovely hotel with character and in a great location. Internet access is "free" with the option to pay extra for a faster connection with VPN ability. However, internet access speed (basic and upgraded) were ridiculously slow (wireless and ethernet), and frustrating if you wanted to work.
“Fabulous hotel”
Booked a night a the Hotel Durant on our way out of San Francisco heading to Yosemite National Park. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Our room was fantastic, I think we stayed on the executive level because we had access to a complimentary lounge which had snacks and breakfast that we could help ourselves to.
“night away from kids:)”
Perfect evening, away from kids at a nearby hotel with hubby. Just perfect getaway, yet close to home. Can't wait to go back!:)
“Cozy room in a cool old building”
It was fine. The room was smallish but cozy. Nice minibar (a rarity these days) and cute decor. Very clean. Very friendly staff that gave good directions to where we were going. The only real complaint we had was that the towels were not at all nice (thin and small) and the shower wasn't the greatest.
