Lovely little boutique hotelPosted Feb 18, 2014
Hotel Durant was a lovely place to tuck in during a rainy weekend in Berkeley. The staff is friendly and the rooms are cozy and comfortable. The complimentary coffee in the lobby disappears too early, but the lobby itself is very cool.

A great place that is deep hear of Berkeley.Posted Jan 13, 2014
Pros: The location, service.
Cons: the food was good, drinks were good….no not at this time
Location: Shopping, poetry readings, plenty of restaurants, nightlife, shopping
The room was tasteful decorated with a definite nod to Cal Berkeley. Food and drinks their were great. I had a slice right next door and that was great as well. The staff was fun and helpful, the room pristine, a definite stay again.

Great location! Very Charming!Posted Dec 30, 2013
Pros: Great proximity to the university and decor very representative of Berkeley culture. The attached bar/restaurant had a lively atmosphere and the staff
Cons: The only downside would have been the size of the room itself.
Location: Great cheap eats everywhere.

Great service by hotel staffPosted Dec 23, 2013
Pros: location and service
Cons: some noise came through in the room, but it's an old hotel, what can you expect.
Two things to recommend: location and service are both excellent

Close to UCBerkeley and local restaurantsPosted Dec 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
The beds were supposed to be queen size, but I'm believe they were double beds. The bathroom had the smallest sink I've ever seen. And the air conditioning was down; under maintenance. I didn't feel safe opening the windows since we were on the first floor; very close to the streets that have a lot of homeless people.

A nice hotel in a concenient locationPosted Dec 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Overall the theme and general appearance of the hotel is very nice. It is an old hotel, so the rooms are a bit small, the heaters noisy old radiators and the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors showering. Kind of dorm-like to the theme of the hotel. We usually stay here during college breaks so don't have issues with street noise, but I can see how late night revelers could be annoying. Our room was clean, although there was someone elses room key behind a chair (strange). Overnight parking for $16 is a little steep, but the neighborhood is sketchy so we paid for it anyways. Kind of scammy-feeling, and there are only about 12 spots on a first-come basis.

DisappointedPosted Nov 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
The rooms are dated. I know they refurbished them but for a hotel of this age, which has been properly refurbished try the Hotel Shattuck .
