Very comfortable stayPosted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: We enjoyed eating at the restaurant downstairs, great food and great service. Nice contemporary decor of our room.
Location: Location as above. Proximity to Telegraph Ave around the corner and the campus and art gallery practically over the road.
We are a couple who stayed in Berkeley for a long weekend. Our room was very comfortable and quiet too although this meant we were at the back of the hotel with views of the carpark. We liked being close to the lovely campus grounds. A 15 minute walk downtown or a bus right outside the hotel.

THEY HAD NO ROOM FOR US and RUINNED OUR NIGHT.Posted Aug 19, 2014
Cons: WE COULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE ROOM WE PAID FOR.
We arrived at the hotel and were told they had no room for us. So, they sent us elsewhere, saying they had it all covered. When we got to the other place, they said we had "been lied to" and they had been telling the first hotel "for a week" that they didn't have room for us. While the first hotel "figured it out", we drove around for an additional hour looking for parking so we could attend a concert, which was why we had rented the room in the first place (to have a place to park, to have a place to stay and to attend the concert. An hour into the concert and us still driving around trying to secure parking, we left. In all - we got NO ROOM, NO CONCERT, and drove home upset (2 hours in the dark) WE WANT our money back - ROOM RENTAL, UNUSED CONCERT TICKETS AND WASTED GAS.

A fine place, accesible by taxi and bus.Posted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: The staff was friendly and had a helpful attitude.
Cons: The bathroom' but I realize it is an old hotel and it's hard to make those kinds of changes.
Location: It's very close to the university, convenient for people visiting.
This hotel had been renovated, but still has an old time feel. It's nice to be in a place where the rooms are different sizes. My room had a refrigerator and microwave and a large disk. The bathroom was small by modern standards and had a small sink. There is a friendly bar and restaurant on the first floor, much jazzier that mos hotels. I wouls stay here again. Note: The Expeda rate is much better than the regular hotel rate..

Nice older hotel near UC campusPosted Aug 7, 2014
Cons: communication between Expedia and the hotel needs to be enhanced
Location: two blocks from UC campus and Telegraph Avenue
The hotel is decorated with UC Berkeley memorabilia from decades past. While it was built 85 years ago, all the facilities are in excellent working condition.

Cozy and well equipped roomPosted Aug 7, 2014
The rooms are small and cozy great for a couples getaway! loved all the accessible outlets on top of 2 different tables, and on walls. Clean and wonderful remodels rooms. Friendly staff, that bring ice to your room. Just walking distance to BART train, Berkeley and tons of great food.. Definitely will stay again .

Enjoyed the vintage feelPosted Aug 6, 2014
Beautiful furnishings! Stylish and clean. The design was terrific and definitely makes it boutique hotel. The building is old and you can hear all the steps people take on the floor above you. The bed/mattress was comfortable, but not the best. I was expecting to find a blow dryer, but didn't find one. I was pleased to find organic soaps and lotion. I liked the snack box, although nothing in it is complimentary, the selection was great and nicely packaged. I also liked that i was able to open the window and breathe some good air, as opposed to have to turn on the AC

Rehabbed quite wellPosted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: I like that it is a green facility
Cons: The musty smell
Location: Just 2blocks from Cal. Berkeley. Downtown isn't far. There is a nice restaurant/bar (Henry's) inside the lobby staff very nice
It may not be the "newest hotel", but the rehab was done quite well. Rooms were clean and nice. A bit smaller with a bit of a musty sent but not so much that it was offensive. The hotel is very "green" and that pleases me. Very close to Berkeley and that was great. I would stay here again if I came out to the university for sure.

Great location and servicePosted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: I like the service, both the desk service and the valet service. I also like the location.
Cons: I would prefer a small refrigerator to a locked bar cabinet.
Location: It's Berkeley. Really Berkeley.
I like to stay here when I come visit my daughter at Berkeley. I always feel like a valued guest and I can walk to campus, to BART and to many places to eat. I get a kick out of the decorative memorabilia, but the rooms are small and a little shabby. WiFi is free and pretty good, which is appreciated. I also think the valet service is worth the cost.

Staff seemed confused while we were trying to check in. We came back the second night and one of the front desk people was in our room unannounced. Housekeeping never came for the two days we were there as well.

Charming older hotel adjacent to UCB campusPosted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Unique older charm.
Cons: Breakfast and parking included in room rate.
Location: Visiting UCB campus, shopping and dining.
We stayed one night. The room was small but had everything we needed. The shower had the best water pressure ever. Coffee maker in the room didn't work but they sent someone immediately to replace it. Nice restaurant/bar in the lobby however breakfast was not included. Hotel parking was not included either. But, overall, it was a pleasant experience.
