“Dark and Smelly”

The hotel has been renovated recently, so the room itself mostly looked fine. They got one thing wrong, though: the ceilings are really high and made of wood beams, but there were only two small desk lamps to light the place, which made the room really dark. We left the bathroom door open with the light on so we could see better in the main room. But the main complaint is what happens when you step outside each morning: you're greeted with the smell of sewage. There's a waste processing substation right next to the front driveway of the hotel. It's small, so it's not a huge blight on the landscape, but I have to imagine that's what the rank smell was coming from. Otherwise, the hotel was as-advertised: clean rooms, convenient location near the state park, a swimming pool, continental breakfast and a friendly staff.

“Recommended with Some Reservations”

We stayed at the inn for six nights. The room was extremely dark. We bought light bulbs of higher wattage for all of the lamps (3). There was no comfortable seating in the room because of the way the furniture was arranged, however, the community deck was fantastic! We had rooms on the back side of the inn facing east, so the mornings were sunny and the afternoons were shady. I wouldn't want to be in a room on the front of the inn because the afternoon sun was brutal. Although a continental breakfast was advertised, only coffee was available. The lobby was very nice with many seating areas. The inn is very close to restaurants, parks, and the lake. We did not swim in the pool, but it looked very nice. If we were to stay there again, I would ask for a room with a fireplace. Those rooms are much bigger with plenty of seating.
