“Very Convenient, Nice Staff!”

The staff was great, check-in(out) was easy and fast. the room was comfortable and clean. I would recommend this hotel, it was a great value.

Area recommendations

I liked the Rockridge neighborhood because it was walkable, lots of shopping, convenient to BART and great restaurants.

“Not Impressed”

Our room was clean and comfortable. However, the hallways and lobbies smelled bad (like a bad cafeteria plus some old cigarette smoke).

“Not Bad at All”

We needed a place to sleep, arriving late and flying out early. Much road construction out front but they placed us in the back, overlooking the pool (nice). Room was modern & clean, with decent space. Recent reported bedbug issue by others non-existant in this room. Beds were not queen, and so too short, which made for a cramped sleep. Otherwise, I would have no hesitation returning or recommending this place, particularly if associated with the airport.

“Pretty Nice Hotel for the Price”

I think most of the bad reviews were in the pre-Red Lion time when this property was known as "Park Place". Garmin GPS still refers to this hotel as "Park Place" not Red Lion. For the price, the hotel is a good value while being close to Oakland airport and the 880 freeway. I stayed in the tower, which has elevators. Rooms were nice and tidy. Furniture and bed is comfortable. Flat screen TV and desk with laptop power plug-ins are also present. I stayed here before and was given a room in the Plazas, which is not quite as nice as the tower rooms but they are clean and comfortable but only have stairs. I believe smoking is allowed in the Plaza rooms but it is strictly prohibited in the tower hotel rooms.

Area recommendations

Bay Street in Emeryville (North on 880 to CA-24) has a lot of nice shops and restaurants. Oakland has lots of rather unsavory areas so caution is advised if traveling at night.

“"Average Hotel"”

The hotel was okay for a short stay. The room did not come with a refrigerator, and we had to call maintenance to fix the heater.. Definately not a 5 Star Hotel.. Just your average hotel.

“"Good Room For The Price"”

Great room. The 'non-smoking' part of the Hotel was a drag. But all in all a nice place.

“Alright stay”

Everything was great until I woke up in the morning with a serious amount of bug bites ALL over me. It has been three days since my stay and I'm still itching. The location was convenient because i had an early flight.

“Good deal.”

Service was great, although desk clerk made the faux pas of mentioning room number out loud. Otherwise hotel was good deal, clean, modern, well kept up for the money. I would recommend.

“Watch out”

Someone had called my room once I checked in and said they were from an online travel site that I booked my room through and wanted to verify my credit card number. Once I asked for her number to call her back she hung up. Definitely watch out for credit card scammers. Manager seemed mildly concerned.

“redlion oakland airport October 2011”

If we had been able to take a hot shower ( water lukewarm at max) or get a cup of in room coffee( maker broken) we would have been much happier. Bed and pillows OK. Price/Value Ok except for issues above!!!
