Not a pleasant stayPosted Nov 17, 2013
When they remodeled this motel in 2007 (as the sign proudly declares) they forgot to insulate the rooms for sound. University Avenue is a very busy street and the traffic was audible throughout the night even from our room in the back of the motor court. The inn is filled with students who enjoy standing outside your door to converse, laugh and smoke. Although the bathroom has been nicely redone, the room is cramped, the bed uncomfortable and the furniture worn. Breakfast is negligible, the staff indifferent. Berkeley is a busy place, and accommodation expensive, and that's how old motels like this can survive.

Pros: It is well-maintained and the bathroom fixtures are all new. The breakfast and location.
Location: The place affords a good stroll around the neighborhood.

Nice older motel near the University.Posted Oct 14, 2013
This is a one story older motel built in the atrium style. The rooms surround, on three sides, a parking area. Conveniently located to the University.

Cons: New beds
Location: UCCB campus
Rooms fairly clean, but beds were horrible. Real 'sinkers' in both rooms-ours and friends'

As soon as I drove in I was pleased by the common spaces and the fountains in the court yard! Love that it is smaller and great location to see concerts at the Berkeley Greek Theater and other sites around town. This is the place for you!

Withing walking distance of Greek theatre.Posted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: The close proximity to Berkeley campus, as well as a BART station. 5 minute walk to BART, 10 to Greek Theatre.
Cons: The breakfast, for sure. Fruit please. More than one yogur flavor? Peanut butter for the toast.
Checked in late but the guy at the front desk was ready for us. Room was really clean. Simple- shower and toilet in a seperate room from sink. Microwave and mini fridge available. Nice size tv. Bed didn't have much support unfortunately but it did the job for the night. Air conditioner worked great. Breakfast was bleak next morning. No fruit, frozen waffles and french toast in the freezer. Decent coffee. My partner said the water pressure in the shower wasn't great either.

Good - Give it a ChancePosted Sep 8, 2013
As an international executive and traveler I see good stuff! My friend said try this motel in Berkeley, and he said try it out of our normal accommodations. It was so far from what I was used to. Very nice, super clean, small, park in front of your door, no elevators and the employee in the office attended to all of my requests. It looked seedy and tough when I drove down University avenue, but it wasn't the case. Two restaurants within walking 2 minutes. I love Thai, but Bangkok falls short. Across the street is a easy fair priced Mexican casual group which rocked the boat. Great food at a great price, kid friendly, easy in, easy out. In my world it's fun to see a small clean room, microwave, refrigerator and a sense of appreciation of the customer. Try it with the young kids, you'll like it!

Nice hotel within half a mile from Berkeley campusPosted Sep 5, 2013
Pros: Room decor, cleanliness, breakfast.
Cons: The hotel lobby is too small and can be expanded.
Location: Great location within four blocks from Berkeley campus.
We stayed at Rodeway Inn for a night during the Labor Day weekend in 2013. The rooms, although small in size, are newly remodeled and very nicely decorated and clean. Their complimentary breakfast was good, and Internet access was easy without any surcharge. Berkeley campus is within 4 blocks. There is a Mexican restaurant Monte Cristo (which remains open until midnight) right opposite to Rodeway Inn.
