Great-price clean nice hotel close to UC Berkeley

Posted Apr 5, 2015
Pros: We liked the closeness to campus, the convenience of having free parking, the cleanliness of the room.
Cons: I think it was just more than great for the cost.
Location: Close enough to campus and good ethnic restaurants around. Couple of blocks with empty stores on the way to campus would worry me if walking at night.
This hotel was better than we expected: the room rate was great, it was close to UC Berkeley campus (20-25 minute walk), the room was very clean and comfortable for two people, and the people at the front desk were nice. Although we were a little worried about the location when we were arriving, once we drove into the parking area, we felt that it was well taken care of and safe.

My stay at the hotel

Posted Mar 29, 2015
Pros: The excellent customer service
Cons: Personally I don't think improvement is necessary, I felt very comfortable
Location: Restaurants and fast food, it had everything close by
The first day I arrived they let me use the restroom before I finished registering myself witch I thought was a very nice gesture, each morning the breakfast was ready. Personally I can't walk very well and the gentlemen helped me carry my luggage to my room and he also showed me how to use the elevator so I wouldn't have to make use of the stairs, he also proved to me that chivalry is not forgotten

Clean and basic hotel very close to UCB

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: This hotel is very clean, quiet, and simple.
Location: Near UC Berkeley
This hotel is very clean, quiet, and simple. There is a tv, free wifi, clean and comfortable bed, a small desk area and a microwave/fridge combo. There is no room service, but there is a continental breakfast that is cold cereal, fruit, and breakfast granola bars. I loved staying here. It was cheap, close to campus (about a 20 min walk to UCB) and safe. I highly recommend if you need a place to stay while checking out Berkeley. You're not coming for a view, or the amenities like a pool or bellhop service. You come to the Rodeway Inn because you need a safe and comfortable place to sleep, bathe, and refresh yourself before continuing on your trip.

Better than usual motel

Posted Mar 22, 2015
Location: At the front of the motel there's a Thai restaurant which is the best I tried so far (I tried two closer to the campus before).
I stayed in Roadway Inn for one week. It is much cleaner than another motel I stayed before on University Avenue.

Nice place in an iffy neighborhood

Posted Mar 22, 2015
Pros: The facility is nice and a really good value.
Cons: Not much you can do about location.
Location: We were in and out, there only for a short visit to UC Berkeley.
The facility is perfectly fine. The rooms are slightly better than an average motel as there is a refrigerator and microwave. It is further from UC Berkeley campus than we would have liked. The neighborhood is only ok.

Okay Hotel for the Price

Posted Mar 21, 2015
Pros: Parking and close distance to restaurant. The staff as friendly.
Outside is nice and well kept, the rooms are a little dated, the bed was too soft and a little uncomfortable for me. Parking was good and safe. Used this hotel for business.

A vintage motel with a boutique hotel feel.

Posted Mar 14, 2015
Pros: Staff, housekeeping, the water fountain and landscaping. Also nice fresh morning breakfast and peaceful environment in the heart of w. university ave
Cons: If the staff had a little bucket and paintbrush for the little corners, the place would be perfect.
Location: BART, food and shops that represent the globe. Greek theater and UCB campus. Historic Telegraph Ave. wonderful lectures, music, pubs.
Near great eating spots and a cool non-Starbucky coffee shop. Close to Bart and not far from campus. We came in on Amtrak and Bart for a lecture and fell in love with this off-street motel with a hotel feeling. Clean with very accommodating staff and a fresh full Continental breakfast in the morning. Clean room and bathroom, very fresh linen and bead spread, new extra pillows, and an actual upscale mattress found in hotels that four times the rate. This is our new Berkeley home away from home. It is an older original motel with vintage furninshings that have been well taken care of. Unless you are a painting contractor nit-picking details, you won't find a thing wrong here. They are getting ready to remodel al floor coverings but still, this place is clean, fresh, and comfy! We loved it! Nice bathtub and top grade toiletries.

roach hotel

Posted Mar 1, 2015
Pros: leaving the place
Cons: remodle it again
Location: watch the hooker and druggie walk up and down the street
there was hookers druggies and delivery trucks comiing in at all hours of the night don't let face value fool you real drive. when someone down the walk way closed door could hear it clearly and it would even shake the walls

Great Value and Decent Amenities.

Posted Jan 14, 2015 on Hotels.com
The stay was only for a few hours as I arrived late in the evening and had to leave early in the morning. Check in only took about 3 minutes and the hotel clerk was friendly. The room was small but decently clean and updated. The free Wifi had problems with major slowdowns at times but it is still better than the Wifi I have had at many other larger hotels. The bathroom was tiny but adequate. The shower nozzle hardly put out any water so it made showering a little tiresome. The toilet had a long bowl which is always a plus and the flush was strong enough. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone that doesn't want to pay for something expensive in the area. Great value.
