“Convenient and reasonable”
Good location. Reasonable rates.
“Quaint and clean”
Very nice historic boutique like hotel. Restored and comfortable. Check out the pics on their website. Restaurant is great also.
“Not presented as is”
The website for this hotel advertises a fitness center. The hotel actually contracts with a local gym and the guest pays $10 per day. The website indicates $12 a day for parking. It is actually $15. The hair dryer overheated during each use. The T.V. has few channels and includes a VCR. We arrived and a guest was arguing with the night staff. It almost came to blows. The night staff was rude and condescending. Not a good experience.
“Good Value for your money”
I went to this hotel as I had a convention at the Marriott next door and did not want to pay Marriott prices. The hotel had a welcoming and friendly staff, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the guys at the front desk were more than happy to help with any questions I had. Their fare rate includes breakfast and free wireless which were nice to have included. The hotel is conveniently located at downtown Oakland, right in front of the convention center, and a block away from the BART station (which will get you to downtown San Francisco in about 10-15 minutes). The only thing I found to be insufficient was the bad quality of the signal for the TV channels in the room, which brought me down to a choice between about 3 viewable channels. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who's heading to the area.
“Awesome time”
Room was quaint and had an old school feel. Accomodations were tight and the staff was uber friendly. Will def go here again.
“A historic hotel in downtown Oakland”
The Washington Inn is an older hotel that has been refurbished. Rooms are very small, almost claustrophobic, but otherwise comfortable. Old style CRT TVs. Cage elevator. Location is noisy, but very close to BART and the frequent bus services that run up and down Broadway to Jack London Square. If the price were right I would stay there again, but other Oakland area hotels offer more amenities.
“Lovely Personal Hotel”
This was a Hotel that is so different than all others that i have stayed in. I really like the homey feeling that I felt there. I do recommend it to others, just don't think that you are going to some nice chain Hotel with all the fancy things they offer.
“No keys, but otherwise OK but not great”
The hotel could not provide room keys as their key-making machine was down for our entire 5-day stay. Our window was open when we checked in and we didn't know it, so we got a lot of noise from the brew pub across the street the first night. For some reason we were given an accessible room, but there is no way a person in a wheelchair could have gotten between the sink and the bed to get to the table with the coffee maker and phone book. The accessible bathroom was very nice, but the room was tiny. We did like the fact that the room got cleaned in the morning. We liked the breakfast buffet, but would have liked to have had some fruit. I would have liked to check my email, but the computer in the lobby didn't work. Probably wouldn't stay there again. No restaurants open in neighborhood on Sunday morning except for the Marriott, which charged our meal to someone else's credit card.
“Perfect for the Over-nighter!”
We stayed here for a local concert for 1 night. It was a great location, close to the BART transit station, overall clean. They are very small rooms, but if you're not planning on spending all your time in your room then it doesn't matter. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their keys to the room were not working and so everytime you wanted to get into your room a staff member had to help you. It was inconvienient, but there was staff there all the time to get you into your room so it's not like we had to wait around to get into our room. Overall, I would recommend this place and would stay here again.
“Charming hotel, would stay there again!”
The hotel was very charming and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. It was an older and smaller hotel and the staff was very proud of the history and it showed. We received personal service that you don't get with the larger hotel chains. It was in a great location and we were able to access public transportation easily, as well as walk to many of the local sites. They had a wonderful restaraunt too. We would definitely stay there again!
