Really cute vintage hotel

Posted Apr 20, 2014
Location: There's a fantastic little brewery across the parking lot.
This place was really great. Quaint vintage furnishings and a kind of old, elegant grandiosity. Very clean and a pleasant staff. It was like traveling back in time. Very friendly feel. I'd rather stay at this place any day over the big mass-produced chains.

Perfect Historic Oakland Location!

Posted Apr 13, 2014
Pros: Historic and very well kept!
Hotel is in the heart of the Historic Oakland District. Across the street from a parking garage. Several unique restaurants in the surrounding 2-3 blocks. Great happy hour at Desco, just around the corner. Very well represented farmer's market on Friday mornings. For a real treat, take the free bus down to the ferry terminal and enjoy a cruise over to San Francisco (mind the return schedule).

Perfect for easy waking commute to the Fox Theatre

Posted Feb 23, 2014
Very tidy hotel- the only drawback for the weekend was that the hotel had no room keys because their machine was broken- hence we had to have someone escort us to our room each time we came back; a couple of times the master key didn't work either which was annoying but the friendly staff handled it as quickly as possible.

Oakland trip

Posted Feb 17, 2014
Pros: Character and history, central location
Cons: Noise level (party Saturday night, gunshots and shouting outside Thursday night), breakfast in lobby (location, no tables or trays)
Location: Chinatown, farmers market
Chose this hotel for location convenience, met some friendly people on the street and enjoyed a farmers market on Friday morning

5 minute drive to Berkeley!

Posted Feb 16, 2014
Berkeley is way too expensive to stay... this is very convenient and a hop on and off the freeway! We will for sure stay again!! It was very loud on a Friday night but only because there was a event at the convention center right accross the street. I love historic hotels!! Beautiful CLEAN rooms and wonderful staff!

This hotel is great for value. But don't plan on venturing out at night unless you've ordered a taxi. Rooms are clean and charming.

Saturday Night Party

Posted Jan 28, 2014
Pros: The proximity to downtown, BART, etc
Cons: Make hotel staff understand the meaning of HOTEL and not schedule loud parties that interfere with sleeping.
The hotel scheduled a party Saturday night that did not end until 2 AM Sunday morning. The hotel vibrated loudly. We did not sleep.
