Great location but..

Posted Jul 4, 2015
Pros: The age of it.
Cons: Don't say they have room service when it is only for a few hours. Don't say they have a bar when they are out of everything you ask for.
Location: A marketplace that has excellent food is just across the street. Right near the Convention center and Bart too.
The location is awesome. Right near Bart, and great , and safe area. However, the first problem occurred within the first few minutes we got there. The elevator was not working. The only staircase is very narrow, 100 years ago when this hotel was built, luggage must have been a lot smaller. Second problem, since we booked this hotel with no refunds possible, we were stuck carrying out luggage up 30 stairs. I don't care how fit someone is, 30 stairs with heavy luggage is not something you want to do. Then there is the room hotel bar, it is opened for only a few hours, and I do mean a few hours. The room itself is both old and modern at the same time. The bed is a very small Queen size. The bathroom is big. Larger then the sleeping space. I would recommend someone staying a night just to experience an old hotel, and hope the elevator is working because what I saw of it when it was being worked on, the elevator is very old and pretty.

Hotel con lo indispensable.

Posted Jun 24, 2015

Father's Day visit to Oakland

Posted Jun 24, 2015
Pros: Clean. Elevator was awesome! Continental breakfast good. Beds comfortable. TV's up to date!
Cons: Check in
Location: Pacific Coast Brewery next door. Great Beer/Good Food! Walk a couple blocks and Oakland Chinatown has the best food ever!
I chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the 12th St. BART Station. We were able to hop on BART and explore Alcatraz on the 19th, and the next day, took BART to an Oakland A's game (June 20th). I read about the sinks in the bedroom, and it was cool. The owners of this building have done a great job of making this a very comfortable place to stay. Great location! Hop on BART (1/8th of a mile away), and you can be at the Embarcadero in San Francisco in 12 minutes! Not a lot of whistles and bells, but a safe and pleasant place to stay.

Adjacent to the Oakland convention center

Pros: Location
A little run down, but quite pleasant and comfortable. It is by a BART station and a few blocks from Jack London Square. Parking was only $15 per day, a bargain in Oakland.

City center

Teeny room, but who cares, really? Shower was huge, water pressure was only ok...but the lady at the desk who got me a cab to the airport in the morning ROCKED! Super kind and friendly staff made up for the ancient and terrifying elevator. :)

Good Hotel

Posted May 21, 2015
Pros: For the price, it was a good room.
Cons: Fix the light in the bathroom.
Location: Centrally located in Oakland. Near the Convention Center and Jack London Square.
The hotel is older and not everything is in the best repair. One of the lights didn't work in my room. The standard rooms are kind of small. However, it was very clean. Housekeeping service was good. Hotel staff was friendly. I like the dinning room. They had a good dinner menu. I have stayed hear before and I will return.

Cute, upgraded historical hotel

Posted May 19, 2015
My stay was only for one night, but my experience at the hotel was positive. A ton of character throughout the facility with modern upgrades you'd expect at a hotel in 2015. The room was clean but small but that didn't bother me. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat

On the BART to every place you need to go.

Posted May 6, 2015
Lovely old hotel with a bar in the lobby like the good old days before you where born. This is my Bay Area home away from home. There's all sorts of cool restaurants around the block. San Francisco is 15 minutes away by BART. Hotel staff is friendly in an Oakland way. The rooms are small but well appointed and clean.
