Overpriced and disappointing. I would give it a 2

Posted Jul 16, 2015
Pros: That there weren't too many guests there, which I can understand now.
Cons: Go to a real hotel and find out how it's supposed to be done, the management should.
Location: The location was okay which made the quality of the service even more strikingly bad. I would rat the hotel at a C- or D+.
The Mattress had a big tilt and it, the hardware on the drawers and refrigerator cabinet door were very sharp and pointed trying to match a nautical motif. One wake-up call out of four never which could have been h disasters. I was promised, when I made the booking, a refrigerator with the freezer to cool my blue ice blocks for insulin that I needed to take with me all day. Nope I go to the front desk every day to pick up my blocks from their freezer, what a hassle. I paid for a staff member to bring it to me twice. The shuttle didn't take me to my seminar days out of four because they said it shuts down at 9 o'clock in the morning which seems crazy and quite insulting to the guest. The ice buckets are minuscule I guess they be okay if you were Lilliput about two fists full of ice the Max had to get up 2 in the morning three nights out of four to get more ice. I really felt insulted by that simple decision on the hotel management to give you minuscule ice bucket to save themselves three cents on the utility bills that one single issue irritated me because they don't really care about the guests.

Waterfront Hoetl

Pros: See above
Cons: Not sure. Can't change location or the idiocy of the Amtrak engineers, nor can they change the thin-floor design. They could improve utilities.
Location: Lots of great stuff nearby.
On the plus side, there is free Internet, and the location (in Jack London Square) is terrific. However, there are big problems with the hotel location and design. It is close to the Amtrak rail, and, for some reason, every train's engineer seems to want to sound the whistle/horn, no matter what the hour. Also, the hotel's design was such that we could hear the person in the room above us (on the 5th floor; we were on the 4th) walking. In addition, on the 4th day of our stay, there was no hot water, and we were told it would take a half day to fix the problem.

Decent hotel, terrible location, extremely noisy

Posted Jul 5, 2015
Staff at the hotel were very accomodating, the rooms were spacious and clean. The first night we were in a room that was (2) floors above the restaurant that blared loud music until they closed. It was so loud we had a hard time watching t.v. and sleeping was out of the question. When the restaurant finally closed and we went to sleep, we were awakened again at 4:45 the next morning by the rumble of a train and it's horn being blown over and over. The tracks are within a block or two of the hotel. Trains continued at fairly close intervals throughout the morning. Needless to say we got very little sleep. We asked to be moved away from the restaurant the next morning and we're moved to the other side of the hotel. It was a Friday night and the hotel sits in a party area, thus, we were kept awake almost all night by drunks in the hallway, slamming doors, etc.and the train horn blew again at 4:30 a.m. We got no rest at the hotel and we're miserable. The hotel staff did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable but there was not much they could do about the noisy location.

nice hotel on the water

Pros: Friendly staff, low key atmosphere.
Cons: Bathrooms could use updating.
Location: Jack London Square bars and restaurants, great Sunday market.
A great place to stay on the water near great restaurants in Jack London Square. If you are here on Sunday do not miss the farmers' market.

Great hotel outside the city

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: Location was great to restaurants and the ferry pickup to the city!
Cons: Fitness center was decent but some of the machines are not level. Would be nice to have some fruit or pastries in the morning with the coffee.
Location: LOVED the Jack of all trades show and farmers market that were there during our stay.
Location was great to restaurants. The Jack of all trades show and farmers market were fantastic. It was super easy to catch the ferry right next to the hotel to take into the city.
