Close to boardwalk, but not customer friendly

Posted Aug 11, 2014
The Crystal Beach Hotel has a lot going for it-- close to a relatively quiet section of the boardwalk, free parking, wifi, balconies, decent in-room fridge, and fairly comfy beds. It's far from luxurious, but is adequate for a good night's sleep and place to shower, for a reasonable high-season rate. The problem we had was with being pressured by staff to check out after they had already told us we could have a late check out on Sunday. They called the room and pestered us to leave early, and would not back down even after we told them someone else at the front desk had given us a late check out. It made our departure rushed and agitated. Otherwise, it was a fairly nice place and they gave us plenty of extra towels and blankets when we asked. The coffee in the lobby was fresh as well.

Right on the beach but the love ended there

Posted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: We were at the quieter end of the boardwalk.
Cons: A full renovation/refurbish job.
Location: The start of the tram line is 2 blocks away.
I loved that the hotel was right on the boardwalk/beach but that's where the romance ended. The room was warm so we turned up the AC and went out for a few hours. When we returned, the room was even warmer than when we left. In addition, the room smelled. I tried to call the front desk but the phone did not work. I went to the front desk and explained our dilemma. The maintenance person walked in at that moment. He came to our room with an extra phone. As it turns out, it was the phone jack itself, not the phone. He tinkered with the AC and said the compressor was "temperamental", which tells me this was not his first encounter with this AC problem. It was extremely noisy and would not allow us to adjust it, so the room was either a tundra or intermittently warm/cool. I tried calling but, yet again, the phone did not work. I went to the front desk again and asked for another room but was told the hotel had no vacancies. Unfortunately we were stuck. A flat screen TV is not a renovated room. That is the only update that has been made. The shower and towel poles in the bathroom are riddled with rust, and the grout on the floor is filthy. A confusing aspect was getting from the upper levels of the garage to the hotel. There is a walkway on the 4th level, but then you must walk down to the 1st floor to enter the hotel -- NO ELEVATOR. Needless to say, I would neither stay at nor recommend this hotel.

Awful!

Worst hotel I have ever been in! Beds are disgusting ... Room linens were stained had to ask for clean ones.extremily outdated ,carpet had wrinkled sections, shower head squirted water out of the side.Stayed one night and left instead of the for that were paid for. Was told by the manager to expedia that this room was adiquite. Not for 340 a night. Just disgusting!

Great for that getaway!

Very clean. Helpful staff. Great room views from every angle. I planed a couples get away and enjoyed it the whole way through. Bathroom was big enough to deal with 2 girls getting ready. I would come back. Plus the location is great as it's walking distance to the main streets like 1st. Boardwalk walk and beach right in front was comforting. Would definitely recommend it!

Great view. Next to the boardwalk and beach

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: view and balcony
Cons: BREAKFAST
The staff were very friendly. Had a great view and access to boardwalk and beach. Room was adequate and not worth the price I paid. Paid for view. No breakfast offered only coffee. No lobby. Check-in ( room was ready at 4:30pm) was way to late, paid for only half a day. Will not return

It was fine for one night. Close to the beach and not real crowded. Rooms old and need updated. Shower head was terrible.
