Chrisanne's east of Ocho Rios

Exactly what we expected. Low key, secure, cute, clean, and affordable. Great pool and protected beach. Niced restaurant and store across the street. Lots of local flavor. We stayed there 4 nights and made car trips to all the scenic sites around us.

I enjoyed my recent stay at Chrisann's Beach Resort. The location is very peaceful. The property is gated with security, has gorgeous views and well-maintained grounds (swimming pool, private beach, etc.). My room was clean and convenient. I didn't have the amenities noted online (DVD player, radio..) as my unit was not privately owned. I didn't like the bed but overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this location to anyone looking for a quiet place without the touristy-feel. The staff (Claudia and Andrea) were very helpful and nice. I will stay at this hotel again on my next visit to the Ocho Rios area.

Beautiful Resort in St Mary's Jamaica. It is about 15mins from Ocho Rios. You must have a car or bear the expense of local taxis to get to Ocho Rios and other attractions. My husband and I had a wonderful time. The hotel sits on a beautiful beach.Very private and secure.Security is there 24/7.The only problem was the lack of TV service for the entire New YEars weekend. There was a cable problem which took a couple days to fix. But its Jamaica everything takes longer....

Can't complain

I stayed at Chrisanns with my son and husband for 2 weeks (May-June 2007). It is a very nice family friendly hotel. It was an actual apartment with your own little kitchen area (with pots, pans, dishes, fridge, micowave)and all. The only thing that was a lie was the DVD/CD player (there are none) but you had a few good cable channels that actually worked. If you looking for a honeymoon spot that is low key or a vacation for the family to relax......this hotel is very nice. The power went out a few times and the Cable had a few hours where it did not work. But that's a whole Jamacia kind of thing.........not the hotel. Most importantly.......they have good hot water to shower and bath!! The pool was lovely and the little beach area was also nice. The air conditioner worked great throughout our trip. There was days we did not need it. And the cleaning staff was wonderful. The gardener give us some Coconuts. It was a bit of a ride from MoBay Airport (by bus) for about $25 dollars, which is very cheap.

I visited Chrissans in March of 2007 and it was far better then what I had expected for a budget hotel! I was concerned being a female traveling alone on my my first visit to Jamaice, but I felt completely at ease at Chrissans. What a pleasant vacation! It's 2 hrs from the airport, a small town about 15 minutes east of Ocho Rios. The was hardly anyone staying when I visited and I had the pool and private beach to myself most of the time there. I was upgraded to a deluxe suite, much to my surprise upon checking in - without even asking for one! The AC worked well, and the suite was clean, colorful, and updated. (I was in Apt #10, with a sleeping loft) But nothing is perfect, and there were a couple of cons. The bed linens as well as the towels left something to be desired. The security is supposed to be 24 hrs, though at one point I came back to the hotel at 11:00 pm and the gates were wide open with no security guard in sight. (Though he wasn't too far, I was able to find him in about 10 minutes). Also, make sure you set up your return ride to the airport when you get there...and confirm the time frequently. I was supposed to be picked up at 1:00, but found out at 11:30 that this was not the case, and I needed to be ready by 12:00. But other than those couple of minor inconveniences, which are bound to happen wherever you go, I really had a fabulous time. I would definitely return to Chrissans and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway!

Not an all-inclusive resort

If you're looking for an out of the way place that's not crawling with drunken tourists, this is a fantastic hotel--we basically felt we were the only guests most of the time. It's a 25-minute cab ride to Dunn's River falls and Ocho Rios (NOT the 1 mile distance in the hotel description), which can get expensive, but feeling far away from the bustle and madness of resort life was worth it to us. There's a small grocery right down the street and cooking in will save you a LOT of money, so the kitchen in the room came in really handy. There's also a really cool bar/jerk centre next to the grocery, which is great fun. The beers are cheap, the music is fantastic, the locals are friendly and the domino games are a blast. The "private beach" is small and rocky, but there are still some beach cool critters to see plus it's secluded and you can catch some excellent sunrises and view countless stars. The bed was a little hard and the water pressure in the shower was non-existant, so if you're looking for cushy, this isn't it, but we still had a fabulous time and would happily recommend it to anyone who's willing to put up with some minor problems to enjoy the peace and quiet.
