Perfect in Every Way

Pros: The Jamaica Inn is a charming hotel where you can experience the Jamaican island feel without the crowds or craziness of other beach hotels.
Location: At the Jamaica Inn, we enjoyed the water immensely. We took a boat ride to the Dunns Falls, that was fun. Downtown Ocho Rios is not far.
What a wonderful time we enjoyed at the Jamaica Inn. There isn't a bad room on the premises! Each section of rooms enjoyed a different view of either water, beach or sunset water view. The rooms are incredibly clean, the staff is as very as ever, and the Jamaica Inn will please the most finicky traveler! This is a place for the couple who wants privacy when they want it and the social side when they need it! There is tea time each afternoon and a lively cocktail hour before dinner. They do require slacks for the gentlemen, so be prepared for that. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, there is a large croquet area, an exercise room with the all the best equipment and a library where you can play board games or battle out a game of backgammon! The beach is large and private and we swam in the crystal clear blue waters three times a day (half a mile rope end to end)! They offer watercraft for your use and the Inn is located away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Ocho Rios. We enjoyed a morning outside market excursion with the Chef on Friday morning and then back to the Inn where he cooked up a delicious dish using the ingredients we found at the market. Our vacation was all we wanted it to be. We will most definitely return.

Beautiful location on the beach.

Pros: The situation, the staff and the beautiful gardens.
Cons: Coffee-making facilities & iron in rooms. Better range of affordable snacks. Free bottled or filtered water.
Location: Ocho Rios ok but all shops similar & full of tacky souvenirs. Toscanini's & Hibiscus Lodge were excellent places to eat. Good snorkelling on reef.
The hotel is beautiful and all the rooms have large balconies looking out over the sea. The service is impeccable from all staff. It's a slice of paradise and even better as there are no children. Very relaxing stay. My only quibbles are the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms and the exorbitant prices charged for meals, snacks and drinks. We only had one dinner and two lunches there. We were expecting something amazing for the price but it was very mediocre. As it's miles from anywhere you are obliged to eat and drink there unless you take a taxi (which we did) or hire a car. Most of the clientele were obviously very wealthy but for those of us treating ourselves for a few days it could break the bank.

Pros: Friendly staff Great view quiet and relaxing It is very couple friendly
Cons: There was a cockroach under the bath towel...the room smelled musty and there was a general smell of roaches...we couldnt find any except for the one
Location: Beaches, Frenchmen fete in october, Gas station, supermarket and pharmacy nearby
I was blown away by this place. It forced me to relax...that is saying alot. No tv meant that my husband and I actually had a chance to explore the property and enjoy the amenities. The service was beyong my expectations. I met one of the owners and it felt like a family. They engaged the guests alot...as a group, we experienced turtles hatching...this will be one for the grandkids!

Jamaica Inn was an exceptional escape from our routine hotel adventures. From the wonderful service we received to its mixture of native and English/American cuisine, to the luxury of its own beach and an outstanding danceable nightly entertainment program, it was a vacation that renewed our spirits and had us planning for a return trip in the near future.

The premium veranda rooms were really close to the water right on the beach. Clean and well kept resort. Room service sets up the table on the veranda with full linens, it was very nice having our meals right there on the water in our own room. The food was excellent no need to leave the resort. Very relaxing and romantic.

Heavenly.....every moment!

Pros: Family run since the 1950's with love and pride. It was perfect then and is perfect now.
Cons: While this place is as near to perfect as I've ever experienced....the live dinner time music was....well dreadful. Way too cheesy.
Location: There is quite a lot to do near by but honestly the property has kayaking, stand up paddle boards, snorkeling...all for the guests use at no charge.
We've traveled all over the world on a quest for the perfect beach vacation. The search has officially ended. The Jamaica Inn is beyond perfect in every way. The staff welcomes you as both royalty and family from the moment you arrive. While we did book an upgraded room to a Premier Verandah it really isn't necessary. Every room in this iconic treasure of a hotel is awesome with large, beautifully furnished verandahs and that look right smack at those crazy Caribbean waters! What is there really to say about those translucent turquoise waters???? Just heaven.

The hotel has a great location with a very friendly staff. If you are in the mood for rest and relaxation the Jamaica Inn is the right place for you. A telephone is available for use but no television access. Very quiet!

Paradise

We loved Jamaica Inn - stayed in a Premier Verandah Suite (on the beach) and it was the best decision to pay up for this category. Each morning we had breakfast delivered to our private verandah and ate overlooking the ocean. The service is wonderful. Breakfast and lunch were delicious with lots of great choices. Dinner was not quite as uniformly consistent, with most options being quite rich/unhealthy and not nearly as much variety. Very happy that we did not go for the all inclusive option since it is overpriced. Overall it was our favorite vacation to date.
