A vacation for the books!Posted Mar 14, 2014
Pros: Between the staff, food, drinks, accommodations, activities and other hotel guests - everything was perfect, beyond our expectations which were high!
Cons: Nothing - everything was beyond exceptional!
Location: The snorkeling right from the hotel is worth the $25 or $20 if you have your own gear, the boat driver, camera man and the guide were amazing!
We went into this vacation with great expectations since we booked an ocean view room with concierge service...and we were not let down! Also we are Expedia Elite members so we were checked in with priority and were bumped up to the butler suite 2 days into a our stay! The rooms were cleaned daily and the room fridge and towels were checked on twice daily - we also did take advantage of the free room service so we could eat breakfast on the balcony, and while that was good, the breakfast buffet was even better - such a huge selection of great food...and the pizza - I am a huge fan of pizza and theirs is hands down fabulous! The best part of this hotel is that it is significantly smaller in size and quantity of guests which allowed the hotel staff to take special notice and attention of all guests and allowed you to get to know other guests if you wanted to. The grounds were beautiful - the pools, restaurants, bathrooms, beach etc. - and the gardeners even bring around flowers for the ladies! And the staff was so attentive, they seemed to always show up at the perfect time and I have never seen any group of staff happier to be doing their job (the one lady was even singing while cleaning the toilets!) So this was a vacation for the books and I can only hope to find another resort as accommodating, clean and just a great overall experience.

Great weekend getaway for me!Posted Mar 11, 2014
Pros: The staff went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. Great price. Great beach. All-Inclusive.
Cons: There are areas of the hotel that need some updating due to tropical weather & humid temps. With the updating, this hotel could easily reach 5 stars.
Location: Dunn's River Falls - climb and explore. Great snorkeling. James Bond Beach.
A 4 hour flight from NYC to a tropical paradise was exactly what I needed. I've been all over the Caribbean, but this time I didn't have the time to take flight transfers etc. While the resort is 1.5 hours from Montego Bay Airport, it's away from the hubbub of the typical tourists seeking to party and the large cruise ships. Outside of Ocho Rios, the resort offers a relaxing ambiance. There is lots to do onsite at the resort from water sports to beachside and poolside activities. There is even golf for those interested! The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to ensure a great time (which is not always found at all-inclusive resorts). Comfortable room close to all activities - snorkeling, trip to Dunn's River Falls. Fresh made pizza in the fire burning pizza oven would be appreciated by any NYC foodie on vacation! If you want a party atmosphere and to meet new people, you can at the various bars, during evening entertainment or the Manager's Cocktail Hour. If you want some rest and relaxation, you can have that as well! I was impressed that this hotel can cater to every sort of traveller and I found myself enjoying my time on Jamaica and here at the resort tremendously.

Great VisitPosted Mar 11, 2014
Pros: Not too big where you became just a number. Always something going on if you wanted something to do. Or you could avoid the party and find seclusion
Cons: Food was not gourmet but more like what you would find at an Applebees.
Stayed four nights, wish it were more. Rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. Dining was flexible and good. Could eat at any resort restaurant with no issues. Drinks were frequent and great. Energetic, attentive and happy staff. Didn't have to stress about finding a lounge chair in the shade or sun at the beach or pool.

Awesome!Posted Mar 9, 2014
Pros: Assortment. No lines. Great service.
Location: We enjoyed the resort so much that we did not leave!
Everything went smoothly! We landed in MOJO and although we had to wait in lines through customs, we eventually got to JTL, Jamaican Tour Lines, and traveled to Ochos Rios at Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort. I can not say one bad thing about the hotel, the flight, or the travel. Of course it is an hour an a half from the airport, but we caught a nap and were ready to enjoy the resort once we arrived. We both loved all of it. The staff was the best. The hotel and room were both clean. The food and drinks were very good with an assortment of items to choose from. The beach was so beautiful. There were times of fun and times of quietness and walks on the beach. I will go here again!

Exceptional Hotel.. "The Best in Ocho Rios"Posted Mar 7, 2014
My husband and I spent three days and two nights at this awesome resort for our second wedding anniversary and absolutely everything was exceptional from the moment we arrived to very moment we checked out. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman who assisted us with our bags. Shortly there after we received cold towels and pineapple punch to cool us down. The lovely ladies at the reception were efficient and courteous. We were then given a tour of the resort whilst heading to our room which was very clean, spacious and romantic. The view of the ocean from our room was breath-taking and priceless. They had a wonderful entertainment team Sassy, Coco, Happy Feet and The Mayor awesome job guys. The food was tasty and attractive...it was overall a wonderful experience. I totally recommend this resort to you. My hubby and I are already planning our next trip.

Clean hotel, friendly staff, good food.Posted Mar 7, 2014
Pros: The food, drinks, and staff were all excellent. The bathrooms in the room were small and the hot water in the shower was lukewarm for most of the wk.
Cons: The beach isn't long enough if you enjoy walking sand beaches to pass the day. This beach is only a couple hundred yards long, at most.
Location: About 2 hrs from airport so it was a long bus ride (comfortable bus though). Snorkeling and the River Falls were fun side activities nearby.
Overall experience was good and I would recommend this hotel to others. The food and the choice of restaurants was very good for a smaller resort.

Amazing ResortPosted Mar 2, 2014
Pros: The staff, the grounds, the beach, the pool and the pizzeria.
Cons: How do you improve on perfection?
Everything about the Jewel is wonderful. The staff are friendly and helpful, the grounds are immaculately maintained and the entertainment is above average. We received an upgrade to a Diamond Ocean View Concierge room. The room was very nice, not overly large but sufficient. The balcony overlooked the beach and we could hear the waves at night with the door shut. The three main differences between the Diamond Ocean View and the Sapphire Ocean View are the proximity to the ocean, beer and liquor provided in your room and free in room dining. I enjoyed the beers in the refrigerator (along with water, juice and an assortment of soda). We used the in room dining for breakfast and it was very good. The staff set it up each morning on our balcony and we had a relaxing wake up while watching the ocean and sipping blue mountain coffee (the coffee is excellent). The resort is compact enough that we could always find our friends but large enough that we never felt crowded and we never had difficult finding chairs together. The beach is small but still very nice and the Jewel does an amazing job of maintaining it. The Jade Samurai restaurant was very good. The pizzeria is a great addition and made great pizzas (including desert pizzas). Service at the bars was very good as well. Morris was our favorite bartender - always smiling - answering questions and making great drinks. Yasiel does a great job of delivering fruit, cold towels and providing drink service. Loved it.

Wonderful Experience!Posted Mar 2, 2014
Pros: Hotel Staff amazing. Their smiles are infectious. No bad days in Jamaica. Accommodations were comfortable. Nice balcony with lovely view of water.
Cons: Lobby furnishings need a little updating and the tub/toilet area was a bit cramped (nothing fancy). A double sink in vanity area would be helpful.
Location: Wish this hotel was closer to the airport. It's a 1.5 hour drive one-way. However, it is closer to River Falls Rock Climb, Tubing, Botanical Garden.
This was our first trip to Jamaica, and we feel we lucked out on our choice of hotel. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful, or the people nicer. We would definitely like to return Jamaica again. We stayed a the Jewel Dunn's River Resort in Ocho Rios.
