Great place for the price!Posted Mar 11, 2014
Cons: Wi-Fi in the Rooms. usage of snorkeling gear without having to follow the guide. I want to use it and then return it when I'm done
Location: this hotel is 5-10 mins to dolphin Cove, Mystic mountain and Dunn's river Falls. Cruise ships dock across the cove from the hotel.
Stayed 3/6-3/10/14. if your looking for an affordable clean hotel you should consider the Sunset Grande. If you have kids the water slides would be great entertainment for them. The grounds are very clean as workers are out everyday taking care of the place. Food here is average. Jerk chicken for lunch was great. The specialty restaurants where we needed a reservation were nice but the food was nothing real special. Staff is friendly, well most of them are but you always have a few bad apples that look like they just hate there jobs.(no big deal) Drinks were great, (Rayon in main lobby bar, try his Baby maker frozen drink) view was awesome and the beaches were clean and free of shells and coral so walking on them was very enjoyable. You can walk to town and buy souvenir's for cheap or booze to take home. (But best price for booze was actually at the airport duty free right after you pass through security). As others have mentioned the Wi-Fi sucks. We paid $25 for the week not too bad of a price but could not connect in our room in the south tower. Only place we could connect was in the lobby on our I-phones. whatever I was on vacation. Again this was nice, affordable, clean all-inclusive if your on a budget. One thing to watch is that there are a lot of sea urchins around this area so watch where you are walking in the ocean.

Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios has come a long way!!Posted Mar 10, 2014
Pros: Love the view from my room. Love the fact that they had 5 bars and lots of places to eat. Love the cleanest and smartness of it. Love the disco.
Cons: They could improve the food by adding more fish
Location: I checked in and enjoyed myself so much on location that I simply didnot want to leave. But I know there is Dolphin Cove and Dunn's River near by
I had stayed at this hotel years ago and hated it. Then it was grubby and shabby with food running out almost every day so I arrived back at the Grands with some amount of anxiety, although I knew it had been under new management. I requested and received a room in the South Tower with magical view of the beach. The hotel is now well groomed, clean and manicured.Furnisher polished and painted. The menu was not extensive but more than adequate. Entertainment was excellent and varied. And surprisingly they served a decent red wine as well. Definatley feel I received value for money which is why I am taking the time to write this review - something I have never done before.

Kid friendly resort on the beachPosted Mar 1, 2014
The resort is kid friendly with a large array of all invlusive dinning options and activities. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The resort itself is slightly outdated and could stand a light makeover to make it more modern. We would have like carpted rooms and an ipod dock but managed to enjoy oursleves wothout it. It was right next door to great markets and local restaurants all in a safe environment. For the price it was a good stay.

Very nice hotel on the beach and friendly staffPosted Mar 1, 2014
Pros: Staffs were very cortious and helpful.
Cons: I would have liked to see more vegetarian food.
Location: The hotel location is very close to the center of town. It was very close to the stores in town.
We had a very relaxing stay at this hotel. We were impressed with all the amenities such as access to sail. Oats, kayaks, snorkeling, water slides, etc. we loved the entertainments in the evening.

Nice hotel in wonderful settingPosted Feb 28, 2014
Pros: As noted above - very clean; good food; water sports.
Cons: Guests annoyingly "reserved" most beach chairs that were in shade. The ice machine on our floor was broken the entire week.
Location: Ocho Rios is a cruise dock port with lots of attractions nearby. Dolphin swims; Dunn's Falls; Bob Sled; - even a walk through the small town is fun!
Large all inclusive resort with two towers of rooms spread out around two beaches and several pools. Very clean and classy. Staff were attentive and responsive. We especially liked the included non-motorized water craft available as part of the all inclusive. The buffet had enough variety to meet our needs each day, and grills filled in between buffet times. Located close to attractions.

Beautiful location, very nice resortPosted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: The location was outstanding. Cleaning staff was very good, the food was top notch, nothing bad to say overall.
Cons: Maybe freshen up the decor and do a little painting.
Location: The hotel is right at the heart of Ocho Rios, just walk around the corner and you run right into the farmers market.
The service at the hotel was decent. The younger bartenders were not as experienced as they should have been and they were slow. However they were very friendly. The food and entertainment was very good. Overall a very good experience, we had a wonderful time.

DisappointedPosted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: Close to shopping and nice beaches.
Cons: Improve the quality of the rooms and food. When you walk around the resort you see many thing broken and not well maintained.
Location: We liked the fact we could walk to a shopping center.
When i set up this trip, I paid for a ocean front view with a king bed. Looking at the pictures they provide on-line, the room looked beautiful as well as the view, They put us in a horrible old room with two double beds and ocean view would be a stretch...more like old roof top view with a glimpse of water. They did change us to a different room when we told them how disappointed we were and this was not what we paid for. It took a day and a half away from our five night stay. The room was okay at best...nothing like the Riu we stayed in two years ago in Montego Bay. It's sad because we are planning a family vacation in April and it would have been perfect for our four grown children and grandchild....close to shopping and nice beaches. I wouldn't stay there again because of the room condition and they tried to put us in half the room we paid for and expected. The room we were given the second time was okay at best. We ate at one of the two restaurants that was not booked full (we tried to make reservations the first day we were there and only had two available to choose from) and the food was disgusting. We cancelled our second reservation after looking at the menu and our disappointment in the food the night before. It was not worth our time. We were disappointed we chose to spend our time and money there...

Our experience was good. Resort has an older feeling. They beach wasn't as big as I expected. Staff was great! Had nice activities going on most of each day.
