Me and my husband stayed at this hotel and it was the worst vacation we ever been to. The waiters served water from the sink and there was no variety of food at all. The room was small and didn't even have a refrigerator or any beverage inside. The staff were rude and not friendly at all. My husband asked the waiter for a bottle of water and she told him to go buy it from the store. We been on many vacations and we never experienced such rudeness. I guess what you pay for is what you get.

Overall, the experience was pretty great. Very nice pools and proximity to the beach and shops. The guest rooms in the North tower were the only issue I had. Although it is my understanding the south tower has been renovated. The rooms were very basic, with no real ammenities. The main door, bathroom door and patio door all worked, just had their quirks to work properly. There were 3 light switches, one did nothing, the bathroom light worked intermittently and the other worked fine. Lastly, the temperature control never seemed to really work that well, it was either freezing or off. However, the staff was all very nice and helpful. The food was pretty good, plenty of choices with the four restaurants and buffet available.

If you like resorts, this is a place for you. My 10 year old loved it. The 17 year old did not like the isololation from the "regular" community. If you want to dine at the special restaurants -- there are three, book early -- they are booked up 48 hrs in advance. Entertainment a bit over the top. You have to like this sort of stuff. K

Pros: Rooms and public areas are very clean. Variety of places to eat and drink. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Hotel is older, but is being updated. Floors are all tile and can be very slippery when wet. A/C in rooms could use work, either too cold or too hot
Location: Beautiful views of ocean and mountains. Early April is a great month to visit - warm, but not too hot. Beautiful breezes and low humidity.
At check-in, we did not get the room we requested, however, were moved the next day when one became available. Stayed in a first floor room in the Cabanas, which is the two story wing of the resort, and were very pleased with the room and view. Visited Dunn River Falls, which was way more strenuous than advertised - but had a great time! (If you're not in very good physical condition, you won't be able to climb the falls and the dry climb is up several stories of stairs.) Mystic Mountain was well worth the money - the Bob Sled Ride and Zip Lines were great, but the chair lift was the best with plenty of opportunities to photograph the beautiful views.

The staff was magnificent. Always busy working with a smile. I have never seen that kind of superb service in the USA. Unfortunately, the rooms were smelly and freezing cold. AC was not able to be turned off. The bedding was a sheet and paper thin so called blanket. I asked for a blanket and was recieved another different paper thin so called blanket. The food was HORRIFIC! So awful! I hate to be mean, but its the truth and its not the chefs fault. They need to be given entirely new recipes. The food was horrible and flavorless. Very very poor tasting food. The beach and pools were perfect! We left the resort to go to the markets right around the corner and it was extremely dangerous. Everyone would beg us to buy something from them even random people sitting on the curbs would beg to do our hair for money. The hotel at night has bands/djs playing until 2am. So if you like to rest. This hotel is not for you. Overall the hotel is nice and has many activites and the staff is comforting and so sweet. For the price you can not complain about the rooms, but the food needs to step up many notches.

Cons: The girls in the cashiers office should be more friendly. I went there a few times and wasnt in love with their attitudes
Location: the location was perfect. we walked and got to shop in the markets. We were also able to try tasty patties, which is to die for.
I had the most wonderful experience at the sunset Jamaica grande. All the staff were courteous and always had a smiling face. From the concierge to the bartenders near the pool, to even the DJ near the pool...all the staff was fabulous. Me and my friends stayed 6 days and 5 nights. Every day was wonderful. The food was delicious and the restaurants were also great tasting. The waiters at the restaurants were nice. The waiter at the south beach restaurant named Basil was unforgettable. He knew the menu well and he kept us laughing all night. I enjoyed the performances after dinner near the entertainment center and I loved the drinks at the poolside. The water slide was also super fun. I will definitely be staying at this hotel again.

Excellent staff - very professional who go out of their way to ensure you have a good experience (Vincent and Nehru provided exceptional service). Beachfront views - ocean front rooms have great views of the beach and pools. We slept with our patio doors open so we could feel the ocean breeze and fall asleep to waves crashing against the shoreline. Beach - Decent. The beach line was narrower than I expected but there were enough chairs for everyone. And, most importantly the bar was nearby for refills on Rum Creme and other essential tropical drinks. Food - Breakfast was the best. The jerk chicken stands were great. We ate outside the hotel at Fishermans beach to fill our tummies with good local food. No restaurant availability on site. Rooms - Good value. The basics are there. The property is mature. The hotel could benefit from an upgrade. We spent most time outside of the room so we weren't troubled. Location - great central location downtown with easy access to shops. Also if you want to explore other parts of the country during your stay it's easy to get there: 3 hours to Kingston. 1.5 hours to 9 mile. 1 hour to Montego Bay. Activities - Good music was played on the beach every night. Wifi - It's not free and the service is better in the lobby. Signal couldn't reach our room. This wasn't a big deal for us since we had a "no working while on vacation" policy. Overall - great 4 day getaway! I Would recommend to family and friends. Definitely coming back.
