A beautiful hotel

Posted Jun 19, 2014
This hotel was beautiful and clean. And the coffee, oh my gosh. Love! The landscaping outside was perfect for photography! In the back of the hotel, near the pool (which is also clean and beautiful) they have a veterans memorial which has several names on stones. It's very nice, you won't be disappointed. There's also a NICE restaurant downstairs!

Close to what I needed

Posted Jun 10, 2014
Pros: It was the nicest in the area.
Location: There are a lot of things to do, but I was there for one purpose and did not do much. I have lived in the area and my family used to live there.
The staff was about the most friendly that I have encountered in a long time. The room was clean and newly redecorated. The food was excellent.

Great just don't expect much

If there is any reason you get stuck in the Oil city area stay at this hotel. Its clean, nice, and simple. Just don't expect much more than what is needed. The staff is super friendly, the rooms are rather large and clean. There is a breakfast int he morning that is not half bad. I would stay here again...but I don't plan on being in Oil City again.

Location: Does not apply in our case.
Room was ok. Staff was friendly. Continental breakfast at this hotel leaves a lot to be desired.

Franklin Applefest

Posted Oct 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was in a perfect location for commuting back and forth from the Franklin applefest each evening. A 13 minute drive each way.Room was very clean & spacious. The complimentary breakfast was simple but adequate. Only problem was the mix up with lost reservations. Save your confirmations always and print them out when booking online. This issue was quite a problem. Too many details to list. I would recommend staying here. I will use this hotel again, however I will make sure I call several days before the trip to confirm the reservation. There was a coffee maker and blow dryer in the room.

Not a good choice

Posted Oct 8, 2013
Pros: The hotel staff tried to be helpful.
Cons: The hotel needs to improve supervision and scheduling on things like checking and replacing batteries on a regular basis.
Location: The hotel is in a very historic area of western PA. It is in the center of the early oil industry, near where the first oil well was drilled.
We had a very bad experience at this hotel. We booked it for 3 nights, and have only stayed for 1 but the room was non-refundable. The first night we found that the bed and pillows were HARD (not firm, but HARD), and the drapes do shut out the walkway light very well (the widows face an enclosed brightly lit exterior walkway). We found the bed and lack of darkness made it hard to sleep. That was bad enough, but only the start: the next day when we returned tired from not much sleep and a long work day, we COULD NOT GET INTO OUR ROOM!!!!! The card key wouldn't work! The desk clerk made two more sets of keys, same thing. FINALLY they tried changing the batteries for the door lock, problem solved. SO...we get into the room and....it had not been cleaned! The bed was not made, garbage had not been emptied, no clean towels!!!!!! Called down to the desk, and they sent up towels but we were really not happy with the overall situation. By this time we were getting hungry and did not want to out, so we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant. The special that night sounded good: Prime Rib! It was the toughest piece of meat I have ever tried to eat. Overall, this was the worst hotel experience we have ever had.

A very disappointing example of a Day's Inn.

Posted Oct 7, 2013
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: The rooms need updating and the mattresses need to be replaced and the refrigerator should not be put in the cabinet that the TV is on.
Location: We were staying at this location to attend the Applefest celebration in Franklin, PA.
The first thing that happened upon check-in was that we were given the wrong room and had to move. The beds were so uncomfortable that I was up by 2am in the morning. The continental breakfast was also very disappointing. The poor girl that was in charge of the front desk also had to take care of stocking the breakfast bar. There wasn't even any fruit available. Again, you have to understand that this hotel was sold out and they only had one person working to take care of everything. The checkout experience was as terrible as the check-in. When we were given our receipt and most of the information was incorrect.
