Okeechobee is a great place to base yourself while you are in Heartland as some of the city’s star attractions are close. Two sights that should be at the top of every visitor’s itinerary is the wonderful Flagler Park and the much-loved Jaycee Park. If time permits, be sure to also visit the C. Scott Driver Recreation Area and the Okee-Tantie Campground and Marina.
Okeechobee is a place of proud sporting traditions. Join local fans at Digital Domain Park, Port Saint Lucie, home to the New York Mets baseball team in spring and the St. Lucie Mets in summer. When the full-time hooter blows, follow local fans to the nearby pubs to either celebrate, or commiserate, depending on the score.
At the end of a day exploring the delights of Okeechobee, relax for the night at one of the area’s hotels or serviced apartments. Take your pick from the Travelodge Suites Okeechobee, the Flamingo Motel, or the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Lake Okeechobee.
