Overrated, and not up to the hype!

Posted Jul 30, 2015
While I have stayed at numerous Ameristar casinos, including the one in my home town, this stay was HORRIBLE. To begin with the staff was the most uncourteous and unprofessional staff I have ever encountered. The TV in our room did not work properly and on the first call to the front desk to report the problem, I sat on hold for 18 minutes. After waiting an hour and a half to have the issue fixed...it had the same problem the next day. When I called the front desk this time, I say on hold for 22 minutes and eventually gave up and proceeded to walk to the front desk, where I found two rude employees chit chatting, and I had to actually interrupt them to get their attention. It was then obvious my issue had inconvenienced their conversation by their attitude. As for housekeeping, it was acceptable, but definitely less stellar then what I have experienced at other Ameristar hotels. And please don't be fooled by the offering of a "pool." It is "community" pool shared by three hotels chains and was PACKED! This hotel stay was horrible, and I will have to reconsider my stays at Ameristar hotels in the future. Rather embarrassing, I their part. Beware!

We enjoyed our stay overall but...

The hotel was beautiful and great views right on the river. The restaurants served a great variety of food reasonably priced. We enjoyed the room size two queen beds and it was updated. The one and only big letdown was the strong cigarette smoke smell near the casino area. It would get stronger as the evening progressed. the hotel itself is non-smoking.

Our stay at Ameristar was great!

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Pros: Everything except I didn't win any money in the casino. I gave them my donation...
Cons: Making sure rooms are ready when customers have reserved a room a month ahead of time.
Location: The location of the hotel is great. It is really easy to get to right off of Interstate 80. We went to the Henry Doorly zoo - a must see.
We had a good time while staying at Ameristar Casino Hotel for 3 days. I was in town with my kids to go to the zoo and do some other activities and our stay was great. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived at 5 pm but they gave us another room just like ours that was a handicap room but it worked out fine. The staff was very nice and gave us everything we needed quickly when asked. The hotel is clean and everyone is friendly. The Grillfest buffet was awesome. So much delicious food to eat and the price was right. Plenty of food for my older children to pick from as well. I would stay here again if in the area.

We had a problem in the café, they lost our order and we were going to miss the check out time. They took care of the check out at the desk an also took care of the bill. That was nice.

An excellent get away place!

While working in Nebraska my wife flew from Atlanta to visit. I booked a room via internet, which was quite easy, and we spent a wonderful weekend at Ameristar.

Ameristar hotel

Posted Jul 16, 2015
Pros: It was close to the zoo.
Cons: New beds. More security since it is a casino or something to keep people from pulling prank fire alarms and being so loud during the night.
Location: Only about 7-8 minutes from Nebraska zoo and close to the Bob Kerney pedestrian walkway and Old Market.
The hotel room and lobby were very nice looking but the beds were very uncomfortable and the hallways were noisy. We stayed there two nights and both nights someone pulled the fire alarm in the middle of the night and people were running up and down the halls throughout the night and it was very noisy and we were on the 4th floor!! Plus there were 4 restaurants in the hotel/casino which was nice except they were grossly overpriced - $100 for a buffet for 2 adults and a child!!

Nice clean comfortable room. Great view!

Pros: Saw to our needs very well. Valet parking.
Cons: A+
Location: Great location. Came for Antiques Road Show. Visited Bass Pro Shop as well.
First time to stay at the Ameristar. Pleasantly surprised right away how quick our Valet came and helped us out and parked the car. There was no waiting for check-in. Had a problem with remote to the TV, they came and fixed quickly. Great choice of restaurants.Bourban's baby back ribs were the bomb.Overall a very nice quiet and exciting stay.
