Hotel no bath.

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Noisy because it is near freeway. The elevator smelled of really strong air freshener that was trying hard to cover up an underlying stench. The room smell of air freshener was overpowering but we opened windows and door and it soon weakened. Most disappointing was that there was a note not to use the tub to bath because it leaked , and after a long hot drive, I was looking forward to a soak. The free wifi is a joke. If you were lucky to get connected it woud not last long enough to even check email.

the front desk staff not pleasant, he was on the phone when i was checking out and did not look interested in helping me because he didn't even hang up, he helped me check out while the phone was still talking to someone, it seemed like he was on the phone with a friend.

One night stay

Posted Aug 31, 2014
I was allowed to check in a couple hours early. They also allowed me to-do so without an incidental hold on my card. The only thing I was unhappy with was that the room was a smoking room. It was not heavy just slightly noticed upon entry. After a time, I did not think of it at all. There was also a corner where the curtains did not draw completely closed but allowed a small gap. I would not reccomend this for a family. For me it was okay. The only other fact was it was too near a major freeway and no views. That is something I should have checked first. I never saw any staff person doing anything while I was there?? It was average!!! Dave Johnson Oceanside, ca

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: Donut shop; Pipes for Breakfast and multitude of shops on main highway within walking distance. Beach is less than 5 min away.
We have stayed at this hotel many times before when it was called Budget Lodge. It has only gotten better. We stayed in Room #309 which was on 3rd flr facing ocean; VERY quiet. It's not on the ocean but you could see it from our window off in the distance. It was super clean with fresh towels and 2 beds facing opposite sides that worked good for our 2 granddaughters that we took there with us for surfing lessons. The next morning the girls walked to the donut shop which was 2 blks away and grandpa and I walked to Pipes (across the street) for an amazing breakfast. Unfortunately our grandaughters didn't get those lessons because of high rip-currents, But we will be back the end of the month. We love this place for the price and will continue to come here in the furture God willing. We had beautiful SC weather and a great time. We were VERY pleased and comfortable with our stay.

i have stayed at this property multiple times. it is within walking distance to just about everything you would want. there is a great restaurant practically connected to the property called hapa-j's. be sure to check kayak and booking for rates since this website is horrible about honoring their low-price guarantee.

Nice hotel for the price.

Pros: Rooms were big and internet worked well.
Location: Couldn't see much going on here but not to far from Disney or La.
Hotel was everything it said it was, handy enough place to stop over at.

great stay great location

Pros: location
Cons: room could have been cleaner
we have stayed at this location dozens of times. its probably the best value around. you can walk most anywhere you want to go, and there are lots of nearby restaurants. be sure to check kayak first for rates, since this one does not honor their low-price guarantee, at least not without a fight.

I booked a 3 night stay with them. Because I'm limited on characters, I will describe my stay in bullet points: -Shower curtain was beyond gross. -Walls thin. -Fridge was broken, but I didn't mind (wasn't using it). Told management so I wouldn't be charged. -Overly insistent on fixing fridge, even though I said it was ok. -Inconvenienced me on more than one occasion trying to fix the fridge that I was ok with. Almost caused me bodily harm (they forgot to clean up water from replacement fridge, and I slipped on it). -Put me in a room that was meant for more than one person (I was alone). Resulted in them trying to move me to another room. -Told me to be ready to switch rooms in the morning, but new room was STILL OCCUPIED. Had to wait until guest checked out AND until the room was cleaned. -I asked for compensation and was told, "you're moving next door, there is no inconvenience." -Had to complain to corporate before they refunded me for my last night. AVOID AT ALL COST!!

Noisy near freeway.

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: I liked the view from my rear view mirror as I left the hotel The location is good, except for the noise.
Cons: Tear it down and build a well insulated motel. Give guests shampoo, lotion, an iron and an ironing board. Put coffee in the rooms.
Location: There is a Starbucks about 3 blocks away to buy coffee. There is a Ralphs grocery store about a block away to buy shampoo, lotion and ear plugs.
Very noisy and next to major freeway. It needs double pane windows to insulate the noise. I would never stay there again. Very cheap management, no lotion, one small shampoo container. No iron or ironing board. I wore wrinkled clothes to a party.. No free coffee . Room has not been updated since Eisenhower was US President.

I am very sorry that your stay at America's Best Value Inn in San Clemente, CA. was not satisfactory. We cater to guests from all over the world with individual needs and special expectations and our goal is to provide a pleasant stay for all. As such, this is why we maintain a full refund policy to all guests within the first fifteen minutes of check-in for unused rooms. In this case however, no refund was requested, why stay in a room that you are not happy with.
