Decent, but not fantastic

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: The staff was kind and helpful.
Cons: Serve breakfast until 11:00. Don't turn on the vaccum for a room at 8:00 if the room next door says Do not Distrurb.
Location: Salt Water Beach is the best-next to Laguna Niguel. We also loved the shops at Mission Viejo to shop.
I took my 2 sons for a quick get away for a few days. The timing was great as we stayed Monday-Wednesday for less people and for less money. We didn't wake up until 9:15 after they had stopped putting out breakfast items so we ate at Ruby's at Mission Viejo. The staff was incredibly friendly. The little tiny pool was seriously cold. The room is smaller than what I'm used to, but the beds were comfortable. We walked across the street to Subway, McDOnald's and Del Taco. We loved Saltwater Beach-pack sandwiches from Subway and make a day of it.

Nice hotel, close to the harbor and easy to find.

Pros: Well kept, maintained and staffed with friendly people. Rooms are comfortable and attractive. Location is very convenient to all local attractions.
Cons: They should state in their profile that there's a $10 parking fee. And, parking stalls are narrow and a little hard to navigate for large vehicles.
Location: Close to the ocean, San Juan Capistrano Mission, Dana Point Harbor, good restaurants, several beaches, and in a gorgeous area of Orange County.
Found the hotel easily. Check in was busy but handled quickly by the friendly and helpful staff. Hotel and rooms are older but attractive, all well maintained. Surprise $10 fee for parking, not included in hotel rate. Pet friendly, so there was some barking in the early morning. Don't know if the street side was noisy, our room faced the hills and was quiet and had a pleasant view. Breakfast was nice and adequate, coffee was good. Overall, very good experience, and will stay there again when in the area!

Great experience

Cons: My kids love to swim while staying at hotels. The pool is pretty tiny.
Location: Beautiful location. I could see the ocean from upper floors and there are plenty of restaurants near by.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and had a nice feel to it. Rooms had lots of space and the beds were comfortable. Our room had a jetted tub which was a plus.

Pleasantly surprised!!!

The hotel is hard by the southbound lanes ( divided highway ) and I was concerned about the possibility of road noise all night. The staff was accommodating to my request for a room to the rear of the building. I probably shouldn't have even bothered, as at no time during my stay did I hear any road noise whether in my room or not. By the way, the hotel is located five minutes from one of the most beautiful harbors and park area imaginable. I would certainly recommend this hotel and location.

Nice facility and close to the harbor

Posted Mar 28, 2014
Pros: The large spacious room and the close proximity to harbor
Cons: The front desk could use a course in good hospitality.
Location: As we were catching a boat for Catalina the next day the short distance to the harbor was perfect.
When we arrived we were surprise to be totally ignored by the front desk personal. Three people were at the desk and not one of them acknowledged us for several minutes. Finally we were asked to please wait as they were busy and the computer was giving them problems. A friendly hello and a smile when we first stepped up to the desk would have made up for the wait. When someone finally waited on us we again had to wait while they tried to find a room that was available even though we had reservations. Once we got to our room we were more than satisfied with the facility. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

Fantastic location, exceptional staff

Posted Mar 16, 2014
Pros: Exceptional staff, location close to beach and harbour, complimentary breakfast
Location: 5-10 minute walk to Doheny State Park, beach, Dana Point Harbour w where you could go whale watching, lovely to experience California beach life
We were visiting California for the first time and very glad that we choose The Best Western Plus Marina Shores ! Upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite, the staff were exceptional ! That weekend a city water main broke resulting in no water on Saturday from early morning until about 5pm. The staff re-accommodated guests in another hotel for that day/night, handed out bottles of water, and provided a very professional response to the situation and kept guests updated throughout. We decided to stay and not move, as we were leaving the next morning. We were going to a wedding that afternoon and as we didn't have a car, the hotel manager offered to bring us to the other hotel and come back for us, so that would could shower and change there. We were able to go to a hotel where other family members were staying and get ready for the wedding there.but, appreciated the offer from Best Western Staff. At all times, we felt the staff of The Best Western Plus provided a calm and professional response to the water situation (that was beyond their control) and we were very impressed ! The hotel provides a complementary breakfast each morning and is also a 5-10 minute walk to Doheny Park, the beach and Dana Point Harbour, other reasons why we were glad that we choose this hotel. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area and again compliments to the staff !

Very clean and close to beach

Posted Feb 13, 2014
Pros: Close to beach and walking to restarants etc
Cons: There are signs saying ice and vending but on first and third floors there wasn't ice just vending machines, id remove the ice part
Location: We went to go whale watching and it was very close to that.
We were welcomed by a very nice and helpful desk clerk and were very happy with the room...it was large and clean and had everything we needed. Drinking glasses would be nice instead of plastic but not a reason to not stay ! lol Breakfast was good and filled our tummies ! Would return for sure !
