“Hidden treasure.....Great find....”

I was going to book a very nice hotel for the weekend but then I read the blogs, there was a consistent theme; most of the expensive hotels hosted WEDDINGS and WEDDINGS=NOISE at all hours of the night. Thanks to the online recommendations I found Candlewood for half the price - it is slightly out of the center of things (about 15 mins from UCI) but for me it was well worth it. The rooms are 'outdated' but everything was clean. There was a 'kitchenette', iron, coffee maker, toaster, full size refrigerator. Sheets were very clean. The only issue was the smell in the hallways - very strange smell. Also the room had a very strong cleanser smell - gave me a headache but eventually the smell in the room dissipated. I had a peaceful sleep. This hotel is right across from a Hoag hospital but I never heard any ambulance sirens. Plenty of 'safe' parking and no charge for parking compared to the 5 star hotels. This is really a diamond in the rough.......I will definitely stay here again.

“It suits certain needs.”

I didn't realize that it was an extended type of lodging. For what it is, I didn't thing the pricing was compeititve. It was difficult to locate with not enough signs from the major street, and the property is somewhat hidden behind the office suites and local hospitals. I can see that the place serves really well to those with special needs. For example, family member with those who are checked into the nearby hospitals, etc. It's an aceptable place for those with specific needs.

“Convenient to Amtrak Station”

We stay at this hotel every year because it is convenient to the Amtrak Station where a bike race we participate in begins.

“candlewood”

Very quiet location, away from major streets, which gives you a very pleasant night sleep. Very cozy and clean rooms equipped with CD player, DVD/VHS combo player, large fridge. Our room was with handicapped access (we did not need it though), and we did not quite liked the height of the toilet and absence of a border in the shower (the water was draining to the bathroom floor underneath of the shower curtain.

“Horrible”

It was a converted Convalescent hospital and smelled. The hotel is really hard to find, because it is located in the far back Medical office complex. It really reminded me of staying in a hospital..

“Better than advertised”

Although the hotel is tucked away in a corporate park, it's an easy drive to everything you would need and just off the freeway. The room was very clean, including appliances and the kitchenware that is provided. Ordinarily I'm wary of kitchen utensils that are provided, but these were very clean. I saved time and money buying frozen breakfast and snack items at the nearby supermarket and microwaving them as needed. The "honor system" pantry is well-stocked and reasonably priced. The fitness center is adequate. And I actually prefer not having daily maid service. It was quite a bargain and I would gladly stay here again.

I was pleasantly surprised with what I got with its price. Not extremely fancy, but the hotel is cozy, clean, has nice soft pillows & comfy bed. Internet connection is free which is great. It is very conveniently located. I would definitely stay here again.

My review is really short but accurate. The Cottonwood suites are pouun by pound a great place to stay.

The carpeting in the elevator was a little run-down & the decaf coffee was not refilled in the exercise room.
