My favorite old school Disney hotel!

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Pros: Just about everything.
Cons: The little coffee shop needs to be open all day, instead of only mornings.
Location: Next to Downtown Disney, easy walk to Disney parks or the Monorail will take you directly into Disneyland.
The Disneyland Hotel has been a favorite of my family for generations. The staff is always friendly, helpful and accomodating. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Beds are comfortable. Theming is awesome and what you would expect from Disney. The hotel was decorated beautifully for the holidays. I highly recommend the food at Tangaroa Terrace, and even better the food, drinks and ambiance at Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar! (Try the deep fried Chinese Long Beans!) We were even permitted to check out an our later when we needed extra time (just be sure to ask). The pool is great, you can rent cabanas, the kids especially loved the slide. Yes, the Disneyland Hotel is a splurge but more often than not we've had excellent, memorable, experiences.

Nice Stay

Posted Nov 28, 2014
Pros: Clean rooms, helpful staff, great pool area for young kids, with great life guards, great access to Downtown Disney
Cons: lacks some of the advantages of the grand californian, specifically an outdoor area as part o fthe room
Location: close to restaurants along downtown disney as well as anaheim gardenwalk
We had a great time in Disneyland. Only thing that people should know in general, there is no downtime at Disneyland.

Our experience

Posted Nov 26, 2014
The hotel is wonderful, however for the price we paid for 2 queen size beds in a single room. There's not even a tea kettle or any complimentary water bottle at all. Other than the above, the rest of the visit is wonderful for my young child.

Late room service needed.

Posted Nov 26, 2014
Pros: Pool is nice.
Cons: I only wished room service was open past midnight, since the park closes at midnight.
I only wished room service was open past midnight, since the park closes at midnight. Maybe 1 or 2 AM would be better, especially with so many families. Saw one staff member offer a banana to a mom with her hungry child at 12:15 AM. Was a bit perturbed overall with Disney that I had to keep showing ID all over the hotel, even for a slice of pizza. In Disney, I tried to return two inside out Ana/Elsa Dolls (didn't realize they were inside out) at a store on Main street. The guy who took the order couldn't accept the return, so another person had to do it. That next person didn't know how to do returns. The 3rd person then wanted the same credit card for verification, even though the other guys just saw it 5 seconds ago. I then ask him "now what?", and he says because the amount (over $60) was high he needed approval from a 4th person. This was close to midnight, and I took my 4 year old daughter out and left them to deal with it. They had the dolls and the receipt, and had already seen the credit card again. I have the charge, but am still awaiting the credit back.

Disneyland Hotel

Posted Nov 18, 2014
We stayed on our last night there. It was fantastic! The staff was so helpful. They got us into a room right away even though we got there several hours before check in time. The room was clean and all the little touches of Mickey silhouettes added to the Disney experience. My daughter's favorite part of the room was the light up headboard(Magical). The pools and slides were nice and so much fun. All the extras the hotel offers to help create the magical "Disney" experience is great. Can't wait to go back and stay the entire time at one of the Disney resort hotels.

Makes the visit to D-land easy & pleasant

Posted Nov 12, 2014
Pros: Ease of getting around w/out car. Amenities such as pools.
Cons: Food options that are more simple and healthy (easy access to yogurt, milk, small meals)
Location: Parks are great - pretty expensive commercial emphasis though - more that in previous (years ago).
Food choices with small kids difficult, esp. vegetarians
