Needs a refresh

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Great staff
Location: Good location if you want to shop
This hotel needs a refresh. It presents like a high-end resort hotel but doesn't deliver. My toilet was blocked - and the first person to come up didn't solve the problem, so it continued overnight. Had to call again first thing in the morning when I needed to get ready for an event. Still not fully resolved (but at least functional!) And there was drilling (the high-speed squealy kind) during the afternoon. The furniture and light fixtures seem a bit tired. All that said, the staff is great - everyone was very helpful and accommodating, and they did comp me my dinner and internet for the inconvenience. I think I overheard one of the staff say they're planning some renovations, which is good. But I wouldn't go back until after that happens.

Great location and an onsite mini mart to boot!

Posted Jan 26, 2015
This hotel has typical California decor (slightly dated compared to European and East coast hotels). The on site shop is really convenient and open till 10 pm each night. Great for a reasonably priced bottle of champagne and some potato chips. The guy is well equipped. We had a corner suite so the wrap around view was really nice. There's a mall right opporsite with shops, food and a movie theatre. I was working in Irvine and my wife loved the location and space. We'll be back.

Not the Four Seasons anymore.......

Posted Jan 18, 2015
Pros: Location near Fashion Island. Service was stellar.
Cons: See above. Hotel needs to get it back together, or let the Four Seasons or Hyatt run it. (properly)
Ok, what to say here? First off, there is now a 'Marketplace' in the lobby. This is a mini convenience store, and here's the part that really brings home how far this hotel fell.... you have to buy your morning coffee or tea. There is NO complimentary coffee service, not even in the room! Yes, even a Motel 6 gives you free coffee. When asked, the cashier said "they want to get all of the money they can get from you". T The hotel rooms are old and tired. There was a huge stain on the decorative pillow on MY bed, disgusting, better to have just left it off????? And unlike most 4 * hotels, the amenities (shampoo etc.) looked like they were swiped from Motel 6, little teeny things, hard to even hold.

A special treat for us

Posted Jan 10, 2015
Pros: Everything!
Cons: From our perspective, nothing.
Location: Fashion Island shops and gorgeous ocean views.
We don't usually stay in hotels of this caliber. This was a special treat to celebrate a significant anniversary. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They upgraded our room to an ocean view. The view was beautiful. The room was attractive, clean, and very comfortable. Our room service breakfast looking out the window was one of the highlights.

Chose a holiday inn first

Excellent if you want authentic 1945 including the corroded shower, no shower water pressure, walls thin enough to experience your neighbors........ Food to die for - or rather because of.

Great Room Bad Location (Because I used Expedia)

Posted Jan 2, 2015
Hotel is great. First class all the way...Problem, they didn't upgrade me. Based on my Expedia status they should have. Also, I was placed in a suite on the 2nd floor with a view of a wall off my patio. Horrible! I complained since I paid almost $500 for the night. I was told that there was nothing they could do to get me to a higher floor. I was told that if I had booked directly with the hotel and not through Expedia they could have done something... I love booking through Expedia but it makes me angry when I'm treated like a "coupon clipper" when I check into a nice hotel.

Nice hotel but watch out for parking charge!

Nice hotel. Except that they charge valet parking for 32$ per stay and no other option!
