“A challenging time”
There was no Internet service. There was 18 hours of conflicting messages about the status of the internet. I had to conduct busines from a stook at Starbucks. They ultimately moved me to another hotel which was a good result but I had to harass them to get this resolved. The room was nice but there was no bellmen to bring up the bags (we finally gave up and went to dinner). The food was good but wildly overpriced.
“gteat stay and spa”
Second time staying at the island, and absolutely love it..
“Best of Best”
I really recommend this hotel
“Great hotel!”
Stayed many times and always impressed with this hotel!
“Great time!!!!”
We were pampered and cared for by all employees. While there was active construction next door, construction noise was almost nonexistant as long as the glass doors were closed. We would return in a moment if an occation comes up.
“Perfect Nights Rest for Business Travel”
Beautifully decorated, luxurious bedding and room amenities. Perfect for business travel. Great shopping and dining close by.
“Very Nice”
Very nice hotel, great service, great location next to shops and restaurants.
“Island Hotel - Don't GO”
This hotel was overpriced, unimpressive, and the customer service was terrible. From the check in to the check out we only meet with unconcerned staff. We stay in hotels 2 or 3 nights every week of the year and have a good idea of what to expect from this class of hotel and we were amazed at the lack of help the whole 3 days we were here. An example - there is no coffee makers in the rooms (quite a downer for us) but we were told upon check in that there would be coffee in the lobby from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Out first morning we got a cup on our way out - about 8:45 AM. The third morning we went to the fitness room at 8:00 and walked back to the lobby for our coffee at 8:45 - only to find it had been removed. The front desk staff told us that on weekdays coffee service stopped at 8:30, but we could go buy a cup in the restaurant - there we found the same cup but we were charged $4.00 each!! There are so many other lovely hotels in the area, and closer to the ocean, with professional staff that we will be booking next month.
“Just So So”
Could have been much nicer if the staff were more attentive and friendly. Valet Parking is $30 per day yet when I arrived there was no attendant to receive my car or my luggage. Had to park temporarily to unloaded my bags myself. Front Desk staff was not very welcoming or friendly on check in or check out. Elevators were being cleaned at check in and only one elevator was working. Restaurant staff seemed very confused. I had 3 different people waiting on me and my breakfast order was not correct. Definately not the kind of service that what I would expect at this class of hotel.
“Did not disclose major construction project next door -- defeaning noise”
The hotel failed to let us know when we made the reservation that the weekend we stayed there there would be a demolition project next door that involved powerful drilling equipment, bulldozers, cranes and other heavy equipment. It was so loud that people left the pool area for the indoors to escape. I am not exaggerating -- our ears hurt from the noise. The hotel mgt was apologetic but they should have put the project on their website so that people could decide whether to stay there. What good is a stay in Newport Beach if you can't sit by the pool? Otherwise, the hotel itself is wonderful, as is the location, and the employees. They should have closed during the demolition project.
