Nickel and dime issues, + lost reservationPosted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: the pillows/bed
Nice hotel with many problems. They lost our reservation - did not get it thru expedia. Drama ensued. Then they charged me $32.50?! for overnight valet parking. That was bad enough but then they lost our key and tried to give us a different BMW key. Had to wait for 10 min while they searched for it.

Standard hotelPosted Feb 20, 2014
Location: There is a mall across the street and streets of business buildings
Over priced for what the hotel has, but I guess you are in Newport. Every time you turn around they charge you another fee. Great hotel if you stay for business only

Nice hotel, very accommodating to our pets.Posted Feb 11, 2014
Pros: Great location, higher end accommodation. Professional and attentive staff.
Cons: More interaction between management and guests, instead of just front of house staff.
Location: Orange County beaches, LA, theme parks, excellent restaurants.
Unfortunately, a very drunk man tried to enter our room from the elevator lobby and drunkly swung at a few of us. Although hotel security was quick to remove the man, we would've appreciated a follow up from hotel management. Also, the man was clearly intoxicated and an effort should have been made to help him to his room, or remove him from the hallway. There was also construction from 8 am to about 5 pm. We weren't alerted to this until we checked in that day. Besides that, the staff was professional and accommodating, but I may look elsewhere for future visits.

Excellent StaffPosted Jan 17, 2014
We stayed for one night and all of the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The pool and jacuzzi area is pretty and clean. Sitting by the outdoor fireplace after the jacuzzi was quite special. All in all, the location at Fashion Island is great and the staff excellent. One criticism, the room service menu prices are way too high while the food quality is so-so.

Newport beachPosted Jan 13, 2014
Location: Good restaurants, in the area and shopping mall is across the street.
the Island hotel is very comfortable, staff are friendly the problem right now is that is under re-modeling on the bar and restaurant areas, that makes it inconvenient, but besides that hotel is fine..

Great hotel, great locationPosted Jan 2, 2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious rooms. Excellent location. Nicely maintained grounds. Great location.
Cons: A self parking option would be nice -- although the valet service was excellent. They offered directions and free water every time we got into our car
Location: Beach! Also walk to Fashion Island mall with lots of eating options, bars, shopping, people watching, and theaters for evening entertainment.
Really enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Island Hotel. Well maintained property. Clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious rooms. Floor to ceiling sliding glass door opens to let in the ocean breeze. Great location is walking distance to beautiful Fashion Island mall with lots of eating options, bars, and theaters for evening entertainment. Close to wonderful Newport Beach. Beautiful pool and large, well-equipped fitness room.
