The staff was very helpful and the hotel was a great little find... I would recommend if you don't mind staying across the street from the beach.

Excellent location and valuePosted Jun 1, 2015
Pros: Great value.
Location: Las Brisas is just a block away
This is a little gem just a few blocks walk from the main beach in Laguna. Neat, tidy and cozy with extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Can't beat the locationPosted Jun 1, 2015
Such a great find! Hotel was clean and comfortable. Salt water pool was heated and the hotel is right across the street to shops and the beach. Staff were so helpful and friendly. The room closest to the street was a little noisy with the traffic but I will definitely come back to this hotel.

Great location and pricePosted May 1, 2015
Pros: Safe parking, nice pool, very new looking room.
Cons: Can't do much about the noise, but they supply earplugs.
We spent a weekend here as a guys getaway. I arranged ahead for an upstairs room towards the back and got 209. It was great. It had a private-ish balcony and ocean view. The room was very clean and modern compared to our last stay in Laguna Beach. Downtown is about 4 blocks away which was nice too. It was great having the kitchenette with full sized refrigerator, toaster, coffee machine, microwave etc.. There is no traditional stove or oven. The pool area was very nice, but the weather got in the way of us using it. The other room that a friend got was in the very front literally feet from the sidewalk on PCH. While bigger and very nice it got a lot more noise. If I return to Laguna Beach I'll likely stay at The Tides again, especially if I can get #209.

Great LocationPosted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: Ideal Location / Within Walking Distance to Ocean and City / Free On site Parking / Pool
Cons: Provide in room instructions for a/c unit - took 30 minutes to figure out how to work it (internet search) Add microwave. Oil squeaky bath door.
Location: Ocean is 2 minute walk (across street) Restaurants and art galleries a short walk into town. Crystal Cove State Park 15 minute drive up coast
This motel is located on the main road, a short walk to the ocean and restaurants. We had a room in the back without a view, but that was acceptable as it was quieter. The staff was welcoming and helpful - carried one of our bags up to our room and recommended a great Thai restaurant (Thai Brothers) within walking distance. This is an older motel, room appeared a bit dated, but was clean and acceptable. We had a refrigerator adjacent to the bathroom. For the price and what we wanted to do, this motel was a good choice. We would stay there again.

Clean hotel, small roomPosted Apr 7, 2015
The hotel was very clean and nice. Close to the beach. Not very many amenities, no breakfast. The room was clean but very small. Only stayed one night, a longer stay would not be comfortable in such a small room. Recommend getting a room upstairs because it is so loud when you are downstairs.

Wonderful Little Bungalow MotelPosted Apr 6, 2015 on Hotels
Wonderful three night stay at The Tides in March. The owners and managers could not have been more helpful or nice. The rooms were spotless and well decorated. The pool area was like a little oasis. Overall, the tides was a wonderful little bungalow type motel. If I were to offer one suggestion I would say that the beds were a bit uncomfortable.
