“Camping? Not exactly....”
The chalets on the campsite are fairly basic in fittings (2 ring stove and a fridge) but comfortable enough and clean. There is air-con in the chalets and it works. Bedding was provided at no extra charge (this wasn't clear from the site write-ups), though we had to ask for it. There are washing machines on site (4 euros a pop). The staff grasp of English ranged from basic to fluent. The restaurant on site is fairly good and not expensive, though I would recommend bug repellent as it is open air. The shop is small but well stocked with staples (including good fresh veg, ham and bread). There is family entertainment every night, but it's in Italian and be aware that timing of children's events follow the Italian norm (children's disco starting at 9pm). The pool is nicely positioned with a great view of Talamone and Mont'Argentario across the bay. The campsite itself is set in among trees - Olive, pine and cork - on a hillside, the chalets above the tent sites. The (underused) botanic garden at the back of the site stretches up into the start of the Parco di Maremma and is nicely wild. The beach for the campsite isn't terribly good, but there is a small rocky beach at Talamone itself which is good for bathing and numerous other sandy beaches within an easy car drive. Talamone is about a leisurely 25 minute walk along the shore path and has a few restaurants/bars/shops as well as the start of some more serious walks into the regional park (walking gear recommended).
