Orio is a great place to base yourself in San Sebastian as many of the city’s star attractions are close. Two sights that should be at the top of every visitor’s to-do list is the fabulous Zarautz Beach and the much-loved Getaria Beach. And if your schedule allows, be sure to visit El Raton and Santiago Beach.
Orio has plenty of cultural attractions nearby that make great places to visit. Step inside some of the galleries and collections such as Chillida-Leku Museum and Zuloaga Museum in Zumaia.
If the weather is good head outside and enjoy the nearby parks and reserves. If you are up for a walk visit a local beach, for example Ondarreta Beach and Itzurun Beach in Zumaia.
While you are in and around Orio, be sure to visit Monte Igeldo and the El Peine de los Vientos. The San Sebastian area is filled with reminders of the past; start your historic tour at the Palacio de Miramar.
Watch popular sporting heroes, the Real Sociedad, take to the field at the iconic Anoeta Stadium. On game days follow the river of blue and white, to the stadium, then after the full-time hooter blows, join fans in the nearby pubs and relive the action over a friendly drink or two.
