Nice hotel

Posted Sep 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
I chose to stay at the Albert due to the proximity to work. The hotel was a good choice. The room (exec double en suite) was very comfortable and adequately spacious and the en-suite was tastefully designed with super water pressure and plenty of hot water. There is very little noise from the other rooms or the lane outside. There is a good choice at breakfast, lots of fresh fruit and an a la carte menu also. Foreign staff need to improve their language skills though, they come across as bullish and they were quick to be impatient when they didn't understand the questions being asked by guests whose first language was English. Apart from this the Albert Hotel ticks all the boxes: quiet, clean and spacious rooms, I felt safe as a solo female traveller, reliable wifi and a good choice of healthy options for breakfast. There are lots of bars and restaurants in the vicinity and the cathedral and shops of Kirkwall are metres away on foot. I travel a lot for work and I experience different hotels on a weekly basis. I left the Albert feeling well rested and pleased that I had made a good choice of hotel.

Fornøyd med alt

Posted Aug 31, 2014 on Hotels.com

great location for access to public transport.

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: food was pub grub at restaurant prices
Location: ease of access to bus station where buses take you to historical places of interest.
great location but rather expensive room rates. clean and tidy with nice staff. near bus station with all buses providing services to places of interest. really interesting history which was worth a visit especially the Italian chapel which is beautiful. stayed five days which was probably too long for us, but would recommend to anyone interested in Scottish history.
