Our First Stay at a Disney PropertyPosted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: Room key was a rubber bracelet that you wore on your arm, and the small size of this resort made it easier to get on transportation.
Cons: The prices of the food and drink were outrageous. Of course they have a captive audience.
Location: Close to the Disney Parks and Downtown Disney. Lots of exciting things to do on the property if you don't have a car.
As an older couple with grown children we wanted to go to Disney for a few days following a conference in Orlando. This was our first stay on a Disney property and we were pleased with the hotel, the staff and the amenities. It was nice that Disney actually provides free transport from the airport to the hotel and then back again. This saved us a lot of money on cabs since we didn't want to rent a car. We also used their free transportation system to all the parks utilizing our 3 day hopper passes to a maximum. We really enjoyed the new My Disney Experience app that we downloaded to my iPhone and used throughout the stay to reserve our FastPass+ passes online the day before our trips to each of the parks. The Magic Band that is like a rubber bracelet was just the ticket as it allowed us to not only enter the hotel room and the parks without worrying about losing a card, we also could use it to charge anything and everything throughout all of the parks back to our hotel room. What a convenience! We really liked the size of Port Orleans French Quarter hotel, it is the smallest, so the crowds to go to the parks were reasonably sized and the resort was likely quieter than most due to less people. We did think that the prices for all of the Disney food and drinks were outrageous so we recommend bringing your own snacks or packing your own lunch and refilling water bottles at the water fountains. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay here and would definitely go back.

Great place to stay!Posted Mar 2, 2014
Great place to stay. Buses to park were never more than a 5 minute wait, and airport shuttle went smoothly.

Great location for park hoppingPosted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: Comfortable beds, decor, location
Cons: Add more lounge chairs, even while the pool area is being refurbished.
This was an extremely comfortable, very clean, very quiet Disney hotel. The only problem was that the pool area was being refurbished, so there wasn't a good place to lounge and read a book or unwind at the hotel. There were shuttles to the riverside section which was very nice, but it was inconvenient. I'm sure once that is finished, the hotel will be perfect. I highly recommend all other aspects of the hotel!

Pool ClosedPosted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: Nice Atmosphere
Cons: Tell us when the pool is going to be closed. Limited food choices.
Location: Very good bus access to all locations at Disney World.
We had to be transported by way of limited seating golf cart to Port Orleans to swim. You had to wait for those carts sometimes the second or third. We had to wait for boats to Down Town Disney.

Great smaller hotel choicePosted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: Small size, location, food service, great staff
Cons: Mattresses could use an update, but I have slept on much worse.
Location: Great location. Bus service to anywhere in Disney. They also have a boat that does to Downtown Disney and Riverside.
We really enjoyed our stay at the French Quarter. It is a smaller hotel, but has everything you need. Room was nice, bed was OK. The hotel has quick food service, great for breakfast. The gift shop was great. The bus system is great and our longest wait was maybe 8 minutes. We even used the free shuttle to the airport saving us some $$ on a taxi. My only complaint was that the pool was closed. Expedia should have informed us of that. I heard other people talking about how other travel sites had informed them. But the hotel did an amazing job of offering a golf cart ride over the Riverside pool. It only took 4 minutes for the shuttle to arrive and was a gorgeous 5 minute ride. We used it several times during our stay. The main reason we picked this hotel was because of its smaller size. The crowd was never overwhelming here or any of the buses going back and forth. Even at 8 AM we were able to eat quickly and find a seat. The staff was great. I would totally stay here again.

WonderfulPosted Feb 20, 2014
Lovely hotel. Didn't give it a 5 because the pool was under construction. This was a little disappointing but they did have a shuttle to the Riverside resort's pool. The ferry to Downtown Disney was awesome. This resort is nice because it is smaller than the others so it wasn't super busy. The cafeteria was great and the hotel bar was very cool. I would definitely stay here again.

Disney is second to none in customer service!Posted Feb 12, 2014
Pros: Super clean, Typical Disney, convenience to transportation for all disney has to offer.
Cons: Better transportation to OTHER PARKS! Universal Studios is only 12 miles away and the taxi or shuttle cost is staggering!
Location: Downtown Disney, All Disney Parks
My wife and I were looking for a 4 day escape from NJ and this years brutal winter. We have traveled extensively and always have been amazed at the consistency of Disney all around! The Port Orleans, French Quarter Resort was no different. From the minute that we boarded the Disney Bus its clear to see that they have customer satisfaction down to a science. The resort was immaculately clean the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and was within a short WARM walk to all Disney transportation.
