Excellent experiencePosted Mar 7, 2014
The check in process for our room was extremely painful. We booked 2 rooms and they had to go through the extensive process twice which made our time at the check in desk equal 35 minutes. The Royal room was tastefully decorated with excellent finishing touches. The hotel grounds are amazing, the pools exceeded our expectations and the entertainment/activity schedules were wonderful additions. What this hotel lacks is adequate dining facilities, service restaurants have too be booked and with a $10/person cancellation fee there isn't room for flexibility. The cafeteria food was good, but extremely overpriced and the cashiers were slow and inefficient, even with the magic bands. This hotel is worth the price for the amenities, however dining considerations are necessary if you are staying here.

Beautiful grounds, quite, and relaxing atmosphere.Posted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: I liked everything about this resort. It's a convenient water taxi ride to Downtown Disney, they have several choices for restaurants.
Cons: I can't think of any improvements needed.
Location: Downtown Disney is close by. All the Disney parks and water parks are easy access. There are movies and a campfire every night.
Riverside at Port Orleans is modeled after the old southern plantations. The grounds are well kept and the mansions are beautiful. We were upgraded to a royal room which was very nice. It was decorated with pictures of all the Disney princesses and royal fabrics. The beds were comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the water way and courtyard. The bathroom was large and spacious. We had a small refrigerator in the room. Disney has so much to offer you never go wrong staying there. Be sure to see Bob Jackson in the lounge in the evening. His show is fantastic. Riverside has a nice food court that is very convenient and the prices aren't bad. There is also a sit down restaurant and the lounge. There is transportation by bus or water taxi. I like the water taxi it's a relaxed 15 minute ride to Downtown Disney.

Pros: Close to Disney Parks and Downtown Disney.
Cons: On check-in to our room, air-conditioning unit not working. Promptly repaired. Two light bulbs burned out, soiled towels from prior guests left hanging

Disney Extra-ordinaire!Posted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location. It was easy to get to and from the main hotel complex. The parking lot for the car was nearby.
Cons: Toiletries were not replaced daily. Called about this and no shampoo or conditioner was ever received after the initial check-in.
Location: Our particular room was close to the main complex, the pool, the laundry and the parking lot.
So excited to return to Disney after a 20 year hiatus! This time I had no kids in tow and so it was a totally different experience. Easy to navigate from park to park. I could get going at 7 am and not return until late in the evening. With children there are many delays, naps, snacks etc. This time was trip was all about what I wanted to see and do.

Hotel and staff were great. Enjoyed the room and facilities except for the food in the dining room (cafeteria). The food we had was cold twice and expensive for what we got. Also we needed additional blankets one night. Shampoo and conditioners were not replenished after use.

Expedia problematic, hotel was okPosted Mar 1, 2014
After all day and eve spent at Magic Kingdom we just wanted to relax at Port Orleans for a meal and swim prior to bed with our family of 4. I had booked via Expedia and they had reserved a handicap room without a foldout bed for us so the desk switched us easily to another room with a pull down bed and we found someone already in the room. It was nicely fixed to another empty room with the pull down bed however the problem was that it took 2 hours of wandering around in the dark along the trails among the multiple 2 story buildings to locate the correct room. We added an additional 6,000 steps to the 22,000 we had done at Magic Kingdom according to my son's pedometer. We were exhausted so could not enjoy any of the facilities at the hotel that evening.

Wow! No room at the grandPosted Feb 25, 2014
No room for conference at Grand Floridian and placed here. Expedia did not have my daughter's information, but re- tooled the reservation to include her and provided her with a magic band and free parking pass ! She is a local college student. Was close to parks and my medical conference,a lovely room and expert service. Pictures do not do the rooms and the resort justice !
