Good location, not as polished as expected

Posted Mar 5, 2015
Pros: Location, overall experience.
Cons: see my comments in "Write about your experience."
Location: We traveled to Orlando to visit family. The hotel was convenient.
This was our first stay. We normally stay at the Embassy Suites on Pine Street. Frankly, we chose the Double Tree because they have a favorable reputation and the special price was the draw. When we arrived, the bellman helped us with our luggage, but then abandoned us to take it up to our room. (I tipped him at curbside, my mistake.) Our room was nicely furnished. The bed was very comfortable and the room was "pleasingly" clean, but not spotless. The bathroom was so disfunctional. There were no towel rods, or hooks to hang anything up. I don't enjoy having to put my towel on the floor and my wife used the provided robe, but again, it had to lay on the floor. The stopper in the small lavatory did not "seat" and hot water for shaving could not be maintained in it. A small wooden box mounted on the wall adjacent to the lavatory was insufficient for placing personal items, especially for two people. The door to the bathroom was damaged and would not open or close without effort. I will have to say that the special rate we received was plenty of compensation for the shortcomings. Finally, I don't understand hotel policies that charge guests to "self" park their vehicles at almost the same rate as valet parking. Yes, I would stay here, again, if a similar rate was available.

Clean the drapes! The drapes were filthy dirty. I thought all rooms these days had refrigerators and microwaves. These things would make this a much better hotel.

Pros: Rooms and staff
Cons: Offer free or reduced price parking for hotel guests.
Location: Go to Oblivion, delicious food at a very reasonable price and fun ambiance.
The rooms are comfy and clean, hotel staff is really friendly. The restaurant offers good food at a reasonable price. But I would recommend to go to Oblivion bar and restaurant for dinner, which is very close. My only qualm is that the price in general is far too high and the price for one night of parking was ridiculous.

Good location in downtown Orlando.

Posted Feb 3, 2015
Pros: Food was quite good, service very friendly and efficient. Drinks by woman bar tender excellent. Great attitude. Location good.
Cons: There must be friendlier feeling rooms in this hotel than the two I saw. The whole hotel could use some sprucing up starting with a paint job.
Location: Location is handy for downtown. My activities were within 5 miles of hotel, thus very convenient.
Dining and Bar staff were friendly and efficient as was room service staff. Front desk staff was friendly, but not accommodating. When I asked for a taxi, they pointed to the street door. There were no attendants or taxis. When I came back in, the desk clerk stopped talking to what appeared to be a colleague and offered to call one. 3 demerits for this. Upon asking for an upgrade during check-in, I was told for an extra $40 per night I would get a much nicer and larger room. I accepted. Room 1401 was very small and dark and felt dingy, a huge 4 poster bed pretty much filled the space. I declined the room and got 1002 instead. This room was very large with 2 queen beds as per my reservation and a huge brown fake leather pull-out sofa that was squooshed between the credenza/desk and a wall. The only telephone in the room was between the two beds, nothing on the desk. The TV on the desk worked intermittently as it had interference regularly on the main channels. The wood surround at the base of the TV was missing leaving raw wood sides exposed. The bathroom was missing a hair dryer.b There were big round dirt/grease spots on the black out curtains. All in all, the room besides being dated, seemed sloppy and unkempt. The mirror above the sofa is in a class by itself.

Pros: nice pool, nice room , friendly staff and all is very clean. Nice lobby
Cons: Starbucks to be open later would be great. (it closes at 10 am...anyone sleeping in misses out
Location: nice, clean beautiful area. close to Downtown Orlando
We enjoyed this hotel,. the staff was super helpful and friendly. nice clean & luxurious hotel. Nice location and nice roof top pool. Only complain is that the Starbucks in the lobby was closed way to early in the day..other than that. Great hotel! Would go back tomorrow.

Fair hotel for a business trip to Downtown Orlando

Posted Jan 26, 2015
The hotel is good, but it requires a renovation, it is starting to look old. The lobby is too cold and lacks personality. Self Parking is 17$ per night, which is a bit expensive. Rooms are also a bit updated, although they are very spacious and mattress very comfortable. Staff is polite. If you need to stay for business in Downtown Orlando this hotel is good, if you are going for vacation to the parks I would nor recommend it, it lacks the Theme Park atmosphere
