“Happy with our stay”

Spent one night in Orlando. We were very happy with our stay at Howard Johnson. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the hotels in a great location. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others.

“Run from this place!”

We had to plan our stay the day before our trip. The name Howard Johnson has always been a reference for me. This time I had to change my mind about that statement. They are located near a noisy and crowded "resort area" (that's why they charge you a few bucks per night(mandatory)). The loud music from the other side of I drive goes until late at night. The room needs to be refurnished, the carpet is dirty and the bathroom is decorated with mold. It also needs a pest control. The roaches are everywhere inside the room. The breakfast is ok(bread, cream chease, rolls, apples and juice. The staff was nice and helpfull. As long our room was near the reception, we could get WIFI in our room, otherwise, forget it. I would never come back though. Next time I'll try some place near Orange Blossom Trail, since we found there more interesting and trusted places to buy.

Area recommendations

If you are visiting Orlando for the first time, you probably would like to stay at International Drive. If you come often like us, give some other areas a chance. Near Florida Mall, for example.

Shopping

Avoid those camera shops at International Drive. Prices are extremely high. Outlets are always a good option.

Dining

For all of you tired of American Food, try Camila's Restaurant. The best brazilian food in orlando. Nice Staff also.

“Not a good deal.”

We stayed here for 2 nights, so let's start by saying that the ONLY positive about this hotel is the location; right on International Drive and close to everything you want to do in Orlando. The hotel is very old and DIRTY, there is mildew all over the shower, the ceiling is peeling and there are stains and sludge all over the walls. Our room was located right in front of the pool (literally 10 feet from our door to the pool) which meant we constantly heard children playing and could not relax, pool was open 9am-10pm. The beds were VERY uncomfortable - hard as a brick. If you move at all on the bed, the mattress cover pops off. There are plastic covers on the bed which make it very noisy. Pillows are not good either. The shower didn't work properly. On our second day, we had to wait until 3pm in the afternoon to get our FIRST batch of fresh towels (which had holes in them.) Which the hotels response was "they are in the laundry and will be there when they are done." Certainly a hotel should have enough towels for their guests! We tried to call the front desk numerous times and they rarely answered. The continental breakfast is HORRIBLE, literally inedible. 2 of 4 lights did not work. Even with the blinds closed, light still came into the room, day or night which made it hard to sleep. Our A/C was very noisy from morning to night. There is no late check out, you have to be out by 11am. Avoid at all costs. FIND ANOTHER HOTEL even if it costs more!

“Great location, but that's it for the positives”

This hotel is in a great location, right in the middle of everything. Has free shuttle daily to the parks, and the service staff ar nice. Also the free internet was good. On the other hand, the rooms are run down to the point that they can't really look or feel clean any more. Breakfast choices are not healthy, just various processed forms of sugar. If you just want somewhere to sleep, then this hotel is passable, but you wouldnt want to spend any time here. Tip. There is a GREAT Ethiopian restaurant that serves freshly made food next door.
