Front Desk problems fixed by Management

The front desk had serious issues. Sold out weekend, eventhough we had reserved a king room, we were "upgraded" to a hospitality suite upon check-in. Well, "upgraded" was a loose term as our room was literally a hospitality suite with a queen Murphy bed. The room was never meant to be a guest room...but they overbooked and shoved is in here...needless to say... AWFUL. Three room changes later we finally made it to our king room(after several stories of how they were sold out, etc., etc.). Not sure why it took three visits to the front desk and a call to management to get it right, but it did..thanks to Charlton (manager). The front desk was screwing up all over the place...but always fixed by Charlton. Other than the front desk/checkin problems, the hotel was very nice. Even after a terrible first impression (checkin) we would stay here again, thanks to Charlton's hard work trying to make everything right.

Close to Airport and Attractions

Pros: Several restaurants in passageway to their convention facilities (which are very nice).
Cons: Parking is an issue. Valet at $21 per night, self parking at $16 per night. The self parking lot is quite a long distance from the hotel.
Location: There is a strip mall with a supermarket across the street.
This hotel is only two exits from the airport (two toll booth stops for total of $2.25 when you leave and return to the airport, cash accepted in right lanes). Universal Resort Parks are about 7-10 minutes away by car, and Disney Parks are about a 15 minute drive. The highways to both parks from this hotel have no tolls.

Hotel with nice golf course

Pros: Nice golf course on the same resort.
Cons: The carpet looked dirty and old.
Location: It's near Seaworld and Universal Studio, also about 20 minutes drive from Disney, very good location.
We were there in Orlando for golf trip and played a few top courses in Orlando. Shingle Creek is definitely one of the best. The overall experience is good with this hotel.

Location: There's not much to do near by. You need to drive to get anywhere.

Great hotel, overpriced sub quality food.

This is a very nice resort property and we enjoyed the room, property, and very polite and professional staff. The overall experience for us was marred by paying 5 star prices for room service and on site restaurants and getting poor quality food. This aspect of the hotel was a huge disappointment. Save your money and eat off site!

Pros: I liked the swimming pool area, the room, and all the sitting areas around the hotel. it is beautiful in overall
Cons: They can improve the service by providing Shuttle services for more attractions and to shopping centres to make more convenient to customers.
Location: Universal Studio is close and a shuttle will take you free of charge
It was a very good experience staying in the Rosen Shingle Greek. The building itself was very impressive and the landscaping was amazing. The view from the window of our room was beautiful. it was Christmas time and the whole trees outside were decorated with lights. The room was nice and comfortable and the staff were friendly. it has so much to offer. There are many restaurants and coffee shops in the hotel to choose from. The Monroe fast food and store was very convenient. The shuttle to Universal Studios was a good thing, but not having shuttles for the other attractions like Disney world and for shopping centres was little disappointing as we had to pay so much money for the taxis to go any where as it is kind of far from everything. The only bad experience was that we had ants in our room and when we called the room service they were kind and said they were going to send some one to spray it but they did not. The cleaning staff did not speak English at all so we could not make them understand. But in General it was a very good experience and I recommend it to everyone. I loved it and I am willing to go back

Pros: location and facilities
Cons: shower needs to be renovated.
Location: theme parks, shops, foods and everything you need.
hotel itself has a lot of facilities in addition to its great location to Universal, Sea World and Disney and International Drive(all kinds of restaurants, shops)

Large hotel with little amenity

Pros: Large with guards. Cross the street, it has a supermarket.
Cons: A lot double parking in the parking lot. Food was pricy but did not taste good. Amenities do not offer tea bags. Lobby could be better decorated.
Location: 9939 Universal Blvd., Orlando, FL. It's close to major theme parks.
The hotel looks huge from outside. Good to have guards at the entrance and the parking lot. But the parking lot had double parking everywhere, next to the curbs. Never seen such things at a hotel parking. It has 3-4 restaurants and a small supermarket. Food was pricy. We understood that since it's in Orland, but it did not taste good. We threw away most of them and never went back. When turning on TV, the first thing it says that Shingle Creek is known for its hospitality. And I was fascinated by the story of Harris Rosen. Well, the staffs are nice at the front desk and the lobby. But there was no tea bags only coffee bags in the room. Most hotels offer both. When I asked for them, it's an extra cost to have tea bags and cups. I left a note for house-keep with tips. No, still nothing. Then I realized the house-keeping staffs didn't even bother to check the coffee bags or napkins. We have used one coffee bags one night, leaving 3 unused. The next night when we came back from the trip, still 3 coffee bags on the counter. One night, I noticed that the napkin was almost used up. So I pulled the last few out and left them on the napkin holder to alert the staff. Again, when we came back to the hotel room, the napkin box was empty and the pulled-out napkins still sit on the empty box. I had to call and waited for 1 hour to get a new napkin box.

Cons: cheaper dining options, and room service
Location: Everything was very close and our taxi was not very expensive. There is also a grocery store across the street to buy snacks/drinks for cheaper
Upon check-in we were upgraded to an Executive Suite because it was my spouse's birthday. The room was beautiful and had an amazing view of the back of the hotel with the pools and golf course. Their service was excellent and the staff was always very friendly. There were many food options to choose from at all hours of the day. We ate at the mexican restaurant by the cafe and it was ok. They did not offer complimentary chips and salsa which is what I'm accustomed to at all restaurants. We ordered room service and it was ok, VERY pricey for an ok meal. The steak was delicious but the shrimp and scallop pasta I would pass on. At the time, we used the outdoor facilities. They had 3 pools to choose from which was really nice. However, one of the two hot tubs was broken so all of the guests had to pile into one. However, I did like that the pools were heated which was nice since a few of the nights were cold when we were there. The outdoor bartender, Rich, was great! He gave advice for our trip to Disney and Universal Studios and was very friendly and helpful. I also wish that Rosen did not charge to use the gym facilities as it was very expensive for that as well. I also liked the shuttle services offered because it was very helpful during our trip. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely book again!
