A big yet homey hotel

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: Pretty grounds, spacious room, good food, good amenities and attentive staff
Cons: Lightly dusting the room and perhaps vaccuming floors for people staying several days long
Location: This hotel is located on Disney property and is in a complex with numerous rental properties, Hilton and Waldorf hotels. Not much to do nearby.
We just returned from a 9 night stay at the Wyndham Grand Hotel and Spa in Orlando. The hotel has an expansive and beautiful lobby area that opens to views of the pool area and lake in back. The room was spacious and clean albeit a little dusty in areas. The fitness facility was top notch with plenty of weight and cardio machines in addition to free weights, weight benches, fitness balls and yoga mats. The pool area was a little small for the size of the hotel but it was well maintained, clean and pretty. We ate at the poolside grill (Back Bay Grill) frequently--- the food was delicious, the portion sizes were generous and the even nicer thing is that they are open till 11pm so that you can eat there upon returning from the theme parks. We ate dinner at Tesoro Cove one night and it was also delicious. Had coffee, pastries, and ice cream at the Barista as well. Although everything there was good, the prices were a little steep compared to the other 2 aforementioned. There is a free shuttle that takes you to all the Disney World parks from morning to evening (to Magic Kingdom only and from there you can take the free Disney interpark buses to the other locations) which is a big plus. If you want to go to Universal Studios or to the outlet mall, there is a shuttle that will take you there for $16 per person round trip which is a deal considering cab rides from other carriers cost much much more. They do have a business center that is open all night/

Great hotel with friendly staff

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: The decor, staff and free shuttle to Disney attractions.
I loved this hotel. My room was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. The lobby was really cool. The hotel had a decent pool but the excellent thing was that you could go to the other properties and use their pools as well. I would stay there again and recommend it to friends for sure. The food at the restaurants was delicious! There was also a free shuttle to the Disney attractions that left multiple times a day.

The Overall Stay

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: The use of the pools and recreation areas as well as the use of the free shuttle services to the parks
Cons: The bedding needs more firmer pillows and larger beds. Queen size is not the best for adults. All cost/taxes incl.w/ free parking, microwave in rooms.
Location: Unfortunately you primarily need a car because no convience of purchasing items for room. Need to convient entry to other properties(activities).
The stay was ok, and not very pleased with the added cost(gate fee/garage, garage fee, occupancy fee $ 18.00 a day, and other additional taxes per day). All should be included in the total cost and parking should be free as a hotel guest.I felt like I did not pay for my trip and in the end $223.bill as to the above which was not extra(room service, telephone) or any other additional services . Also a call from the hotel manager while I'm at the airport as to an inquiry of some damage to desk which was (scratched) and I shared that it was there when we checked in the room.. According to him rooms are checked before next guest. Apparently overlooked by staff and based on the way it looked someone (prior occupants) may have had luggage or some type of object that was heavy ingrained in the wood. All of our luggage and items purchased were not placed on the desk, and our room was cleaned each day by housekeeping, so why did no one report it if it appeared a problem then. Why would this be an issue once we have paid our money. None of it made sense. I told him it was there and did not think about calling and reporting which I should have done but did not give a 2nd though as to being on vacation and in and out of the room mostly all day everyday. My wife and myself offended as to inquiry respecting property of others. Management should have checked with staff and prior occupants. I will not be willing to stay at any of Wyndram properties again in the future(overrated)

5 Days at Disney Parks

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Clean/updated Facilities Bus to parks was on time all the time Affordable/comfortable room - Need to take taxi's to water parks: Taxi's at hotel are more expensive than other options - Food options including hotel shops were expensive. Vending machines were less expensive for pop and water

Close to all Disney Parks and Downtown Disney

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Cons: I would request the pool area to stay open later than 11pm, like the other pool a few hotels down the road. I would also, play more current music
Had an issue with room maid service, but was handled by the Manager on Duty effectively. Parking in the garage is $16 a day and Valet is $22 per day. Hotel is very clean and the staff was friendly.

We had a great view of the parking lot.

Posted Jul 14, 2014
The resort was beautiful. The multiple pools and hot tubs surrounding the pond and fountains let you know that this could be a great spot to visit annually. There is also a view of the nightly fireworks at Disney. We could see none of that. We saw the parking lot. The place was not crowded. Our room was comfortable. The sofa had a huge dirty spot. And the housekeeper stopped by one day to ask if we needed anything. She never attempted to enter the room. Two people were rude. Everyone else was wonderful.

OK hotel.

Ok Hotel, sort of relaxing, nice pools, and great walking around the pond/lake trail-Busy since they share same amenities with other resorts tower(owners), some driving to any theme parks and other amenities.
