"Excellent hotel"
The hotel is close to a business park, so is probably popular for business travellers, although we were there on holiday. We were travelling with the JR Rail Pass, arriving at Shin-Osaka station on the shinkansen, we transferred to Osaka station (one stop on the JR Kyoto line) then made our was to Osaka-Jo-Koen station (four stops on the JR loop line) - all covered by the rail pass. This was our first visit to Osaka, less hectic that Tokyo but still quite busy. The people are friendly, but then again, one rarely encounters unfriendly people in Japan. We used Osaka as our base for visits to Kyoto and Hiroshima.

"Nice upscale hotel"
The hotel was on the high side, even for Japan prices. But, once you get past that, the combined package of what you receive during your stay makes the cost seem better than reasonable by the time you depart. Clean and modern rooms, excellent linen, prompt elevators, very quiet, high marks for everything. The best part of this hotel is the English speaking staff who gave me excellent instructions on how to make my way around the city by train and subway with English oriented maps. We never took a cab anywhere. Sitting directly on top the Namba station, I cannot imagine any other hotel more centrally located to everything. A few blocks walk to the Dotonbori, a few subway stops to Osaka Castle, Kansai train directly to the airport, close proximity to historic Kyoto/Nara and reasonably close to Hiroshima, etc. But the best feature is the abundance of good cheap eats to be had everywhere, especially at the huge Takashimaya store in Namba station directly below (literally) the hotel. This is one nice hotel with a killer location-location-location. Definitely my first choice on a revisit to Osaka.

"Home Away from Home"
I stayed at the RR for 16 days while daily traveling southern Japan. Everyone was friendly and happy to help if I needed it. Mr Nagano and Mr Okina, two of the concierges, went beyond the call of duty several times, especially when I had trouble communicating with my credit card company. Mr. Nagano also directed us to several excellent local restaurants near the hotel. An English newspaper was delivered to the door every morning and there is a pastry shop called Melissa's off the lobby where we picked up breakfast every morning before we got on the hotel bus to the train station.
