Pros: Close to the Central bus/train station
Cons: Provide at least soap. Provide 2 towels with the linens.
Location: The Central bus/train station is walking distance. There are shops in walking distance where you can buy food.
We arrived late (at appr. 1:00 am), but there were many people checking in. The check-in process was relatively fast. The hostel was fully booked at the end of August. We had to pay 90 NOK per person for linens and one towel. We had just arrived from Vienna, Austria, where we stayed at a 3 star hotel that was 50% cheaper than Anker Hostel, and included very good breakfast, linens and towels, soap, shampoo. Just as an observation, in general, hotels in Oslo are more expensive than the same level hotels in Europe and USA. We had booked a 2-bed room for 3 nights at Anker Hostel, but got a 8-bed dorm room (we were the only 2 occupants). There was a fridge and a cook top that was convenient. There was one table and 3 chairs. There was no TV set in the room. The WiFi was reliable and fast. The room did not have A/C. In summer it must be hot in the rooms. The room was moped every day, but the towels was not changed. In the bathroom there were a toilet and a shower; there was nothing else, including soap. You have to have your own soap, shampoo, etc. The Central train/bus station is walking distance from the hostel; there are near-by shops and places to eat. The area is not very nice, but acceptable.

costly for a hostelPosted Jul 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
OK and good location but for the price: I stayed in one of the private rooms. For the dorm beds, I think it's ok for charging for all the extras. BUT, for a private room, couldn't believe they made me PAY for rental of the sheets and towels had OPTIONAL fee! Breakfast was NOT included and the WIFI was only in the common area., this was ridiculous- but that is my opinion. If a family were staying in the same room, would be ok...but not for a single person!

The hotel was in a dodgy area of Oslo, but was good for its price.

The room is spacious and clean. With kitchenette. You need to place a deposit to loan kitchenware.

It is centraly locatedPosted Jun 20, 2013
Cons: Clean often
Location: Good location, transportation at the same block, there are food stores nearby. Walking distance to train station and other sites.
It is close to the important sites, but the neighborhood is not too good, gypsies, yunkies, etc. Staff is helpful, the placed too many beds for the size of the room, not lockers in room, they do not clean often.

Check-in time is a bit hectic, but on the whole the place is as advertised. The walk from the train station is not long. The neighborhood feels a bit rough, but not really unsafe. Grocery stores and relatively cheap, easy food options are very convenient, as is access to public transit.
