Great locationPosted Apr 6, 2014
Pros: The spa on the top floor, the view from my room
Location: Shopping, restaurants
I stayed at the Grand Hotel for 2 nights. This was a spectacular hotel, my room had an incredible view. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was quite spacious and nicely furnished. The hotel is located on the main shopping street, close to many restaurants. On my next trip to Oslo, I plan to stay at this hotel again.
The Edvard Munch's choice in OsloPosted Apr 4, 2014
Pros: Nineteenth century hotel with a very 21st century pool and fitness center.
Cons: The 19th century, massive bathup needs stairs to get into. The elevator is 5 steps above the lobby
It's been there a while (Edvard Munch patronized the cafe) and it's been modernized. It's also central. The Fly Busen from Gardermoen airport stops at the back of the hotel and the tram to the Viking Ship Museum (go!) is across the park in front. Like many Norwegian Hotels it's expensive. It is claimed that Munch was inspired to paint "The Scream"in 1893 when he got the bill at the hotel cafe.

Beautiful Hotel - Great Location!Posted Mar 22, 2014
Pros: Location and charm.
We took the airport express train and walked from the National Theatre stop to the hotel. It was a pleasant walk. The hotel is squarely situated in the middle of a beautiful area - lots of nearby walking attractions such as the National Art Museum. The hotel was clean and lovely. We enjoyed our stay.

Very comfortable hotel right downtown.Posted Mar 18, 2014
After a breakneck pace of business travel through Europe, I was delighted to be able to spend the weekend here. It was a welcome break from uncomfortably small, no frills business hotels. Favorite things included the heated floors in the bathroom, a neck pillow for the lounging in the tub, and the colorful room furnishings. I would absolutely stay here again.

ClassPosted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: This hotel has everything, a wonderful restaurant, a roof top bar and night club, a pool & spa, exercise room and more. But the best thing about this
Cons: There is only one thing to change, the maids leave the cleaning carts out in the hall for a very long time
Location: Right in town within walking distance to almost everything.
The Nobel Peace Prize nominee's stay there and so do presidents and foreign dignitaries and there is a good reason for that. The hotel is lovely in appearance and the history of the building is just a lovely. This place is wonderful.

Buffet breakfast was second to none. Need to not leave it too late otherwise can get busy.

Good hotel near to centre of everythingPosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: The breakfast and the conservitory where it takes place
Cons: The interior is plain and a little colour int the coridoors would help
Location: In the very centre of Oslo
A good quality hotel in the centre of Oslo - helpful staff - clean rooms - a little tired around the edges. Most rooms look over inner courtyards (the bins) - there are not many rooms with an exterior view, and even less with a front view.

The Grand was a relaxed and friendly place.Posted Feb 21, 2014
Cons: The gowns for swimming could already be in the room when you arrive.
Location: We were near the harbour for the Fjord trips, the park for changing of the guard, the metro for Skiing and tobogganing and lots of nice restaurants.
The Hotel was very Central and pleasant. the staff were helpful, friendly and infromative. The buffet breakfast was a real treat and well laid out. The place was very quiet, even when the hotel had a party booked. The swimming pool was lovely, but you have to get gowns from the hotel to use it or it costs around 10 pounds to get a gown and locker.
